Position: Senior Data Scientist

Job Location: 850 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066

Duties: Research, design, develop, and deploy data driven algorithmic solutions, both statistical and machine learning, for forecasting demand for hundreds of millions of store-item combinations every week. Implement computationally scalable algorithms of statistical models that run quickly on large datasets. Deploy models in production and create algorithms that are fast and robust. Utilize advanced machine learning and statistics tool sets to define new problems and improve existing demand forecasting models. Engage in data analysis using advanced statistical algorithms to identify potential opportunities to improve existing algorithms. Respond to user-initiated, forecast-related issues as needed. Work closely with the engineering team on the implementation and deployment of feature engineering, forecasting, and implementing and deploying algorithms in a cloud environment. Keep up to date with current research and best practices on time series and hierarchical forecasting techniques and other advanced forecasting techniques. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to realize the business needs and provide solutions that will be implemented for a variety of products and geographies.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience coding in one of the following object-oriented programming languages for feature engineering and developing advanced machine learning algorithms: Python or Java. Experience coding in programming language R for mathematical modeling. Experience with customer demand forecasting using machine learning and statistical models. Experience using time series analysis to study consumption patterns. Experience with SQL to manage and retrieve data from large datasets. Experience collaborating with engineers to implement and deploy scalable solutions for enhancing product usability. Experience with diagnosis, improvement, and redesign of machine learning models based on business feedback. Experience with shell scripting to automate data processing and analysis pipelines. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $142,243/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
