Program Manager, Sam’s Club Services: Lead Innovation and Drive Complex Projects to Success

As a Program Manager for Services Merchandising within Sam’s Club you’ll oversee a portfolio of cross-disciplinary complex projects, ensuring successful execution aligned with broader strategic goals. You will gain a deep understanding of the problem and pain points, identify the right solutions that are executable. Your ability to manage multiple priorities and foster collaboration across diverse teams will be critical to your success in this role.

What You’ll Do:

  • Program Leadership: Work with Sr. Directors in Services Merchandising who are launching new Services or features that will require technology support to create clear goals, deliverables, and schedules, breaking larger programs into smaller, actionable modules.
  • Tech & Business Alignment: Collaborate as a liaison between Product & Tech and cross-functional business stakeholders to bridge technology strategy with business needs. Translate complex requirements into actionable project plans, drive technology solutions forward, and ensure alignment with company objectives. Key business stakeholders for services will include merchandising, marketing, finance, operations, legal, accounting, and supplier partners – among others.  
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build strong relationships with stakeholders, guiding cross-functional teams toward shared goals. Communicate complex information clearly, influence decision-making, and ensure alignment across leadership, sponsors, and teams.
  • Risk Management & Process Improvement: Identify and mitigate risks, designing proactive plans to ensure smooth program execution. Lead continuous improvement efforts by evaluating current processes, identifying gaps, and developing best-in-class solutions.
  • Operational Excellence & Leadership: Provide strategic direction by analyzing business objectives, customer needs, and program performance. Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth, mentoring associates, and ensuring the development of a highly skilled, engaged workforce.
  • Program Monitoring & Execution: Track program progress and performance, using data-driven insights to adjust forecasts, guide decision-making, and optimize overall program outcomes. Lead the execution of program management best practices, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in program management with a proven ability to handle multiple, competing projects across complex business landscapes. You’ll sweep us off our feet if you have program management experience in highly complex and regulated services such as health care, travel, automotive and home services, among others.
  • eCommerce experience, supporting program goals to launch and maintain new features in an eCommerce environment.
  • Strong expertise in stakeholder management, with a demonstrated ability to influence decisions and align teams around shared goals.
  • Risk management skills to anticipate and mitigate potential issues, driving program success.
  • Leadership experience in guiding and developing cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a culture of innovation.
  • A deep understanding of technology trends in Services, business needs, and how to create actionable, strategic alignment across both.
  • Communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly, manage expectations, and engage senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • A customer-centric mindset, always striving to deliver excellence and value to both customers and team members.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Design Thinking, and Project Management best practices.

You’ll Make an Impact by:

  • Driving Strategic Decision-Making: Partner with senior leaders to identify key goals, risks, and success criteria. Develop and execute communication strategies that ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed on program objectives and outcomes.
  • Leading Cross-Functional Collaboration: Direct the prioritization and scoping of multiple enterprise-wide projects. Influence departmental strategies, ensuring alignment between business units and program goals.
  • Improving Processes & Program Performance: Oversee program performance by reviewing KPIs, tracking trends, and guiding continuous process improvements. Implement solutions to enhance service delivery and product capabilities.
  • Promoting Integrity & Ethics: Cultivate an environment of trust and ethical behavior, ensuring adherence to company policies and fostering transparency at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or equivalent degree in business management or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing complex programs, presenting to C-suite executives, and influencing strategic direction.
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile, Design Thinking, and Project/Product Management.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Professional), SAFe SA (Scaled Agile), or ICP-ACC (Agile Coach Certification) are a plus.
