BRAND & MARKETING ACTIVATION

Brand & Marketing Activation is WMC’s B2B center of excellence for creating and executing holistic marketing and communication strategies for Walmart Connect targeting our various audiences including Brand & Shopper Marketers, 3P Marketplace sellers, API & DSP Partners and Agencies.   This high performing department oversees WMC brand marketing, creative services, partner marketing, marketing activation, lead generation and lifecycle marketing. While Walmart Connect has quickly established ourselves as a leading Retail Media partner, we are well on our way to becoming a top 10 advertising platform.

JOB OVERVIEW 

In this leadership role, you will have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of this brand within a changing media & marketing landscape in which Retail Media is taking a critical priority position.  You will craft the holistic vision and marketing communications strategy for the Walmart Connect brand among our various audiences:  Brand & Shopper Marketers, 3P Marketplace sellers, API & DSP Partners and Agencies.  And you will lead a high-performing team of 20+ high-performing marketers to bring these plans to market.  You will manage and hire experts across Brand Marketing, Creative, Partner Marketing, Marketing Activation (Event Marketing, Paid Media & Content Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, and Lead Generation), as well as managing multiple agency partners.  This is a leadership position reporting to the VP, Marketing, Walmart Connect.

We are looking for an exceptionally strong, strategic, and effective leader who is influential, highly energized, and capable of driving internal cross-functional partnerships within WMC and Walmart, as well as external partnerships with agencies.  Functionally, this is someone who will excel leading and developing a high-performing team of marketers and creative talent. 

We are looking for a proven B2B Marketer, with an entrepreneurial edge.  The ideal candidate understands the exciting and changing world of media, the critical role of data, and the opportunity to grow this brand and business to serve our clients and customers.  This person has a passion and expertise for storytelling anchored in compelling data and insights as well as a results-driven mindset.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Leads Walmart Connect Brand & Marketing Activation team.   Provides overall vision and direction for Walmart Connect brand positioning, key narratives, marketing strategies and activation plans against all audiences. Analyzes business objectives and sales needs -- developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing WMC marketing strategies, plans, collateral and practices.

  • Position Walmart Connect as a leader in the Industry and ensure best-in-class marketing that showcases our unique value proposition.

  • Manages the growth and consistency of our WMC brand by developing and conducting competitive market assessments; utilizes and analyzes market data to influence strategies; maintains and verifies that all branded collateral and messaging supports the established brand position; and provides guidance and feedback to the development teams through established calendar milestones.

  • Actively partners with Corporate Comms team to build holistic MarCom plans, inclusive of public relations, earned social media, and Industry events

  • Manages and oversees contracts and relationships with 3rd party agencies or external service providers working with B2B team.

  • Set roadmaps and priorities for the team to deliver on key objectives, driving collaboration and efficient ways of working between Brand Marketing, Marketing Activation, Corporate Communications, and other stakeholders

  • Manage, review and provide feedback on the team’s plans and output to ensure robust and timely delivery relative to goals—ensuring that it provides value, and reflects strategic intelligence, creativity and innovation.   

  • Seek stakeholder feedback to measure performance and quantify impact/results, strengthen output, and optimize ways of working. 

  • Partner with International Walmart Connect teams to share brand materials and best practices

  • Establish and implement plans to coach, motivate and develop individuals on the team—with clarity on personal goals and growth plans.  

  • Contribute to build a collaborative culture that upholds and celebrates Walmart’s values where diversity of backgrounds and opinions are celebrated and encouraged. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree.  MBA or advanced-level academic degree strongly preferred. 

  • A proven record of driving successful B2B marketing strategies and plans, preferably for a media, sales-driven company or agency with deep knowledge of the media landscape.

  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams to effectively operate and thrive in fast-paced environments. 

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience, and 8 years of experience developing talent by managing, coaching, and motivating direct reports.  

  • Experience and influence driving cross-functional partnerships.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field and 6 years’ experience in brand development and management, developing creative briefs, marketing, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in brand development and management, developing creative briefs, marketing, or related area.
