What you'll do...

We are seeking a Quality Engineer III professional in our Hoboken, NJ office. 

 

Duties: Develop the quality assurance framework for third-party data ingestion processes and test the data as it flows from third-party vendors through Wal-Mart's data landscape. Work with third-party vendors, internal business domains, and cross functional teams to evaluate data, test data quality, and ensure data accuracy, data integrity, and data completeness. Ensure appropriate quality assurance processes are in place as the data flows through acquisition to consumption phases. Create test plans and test cases. Execute manual and automated tests to ensure extracted and transformed data is loaded accurately from third-party sources to Wal-Mart's data lake leveraging distributed platforms such as Hadoop. Review and understand business requirements, technical designs, and data models for third-party data pipelines (ETL). Perform end to end functional, regression, and API testing using automated functional tools and environments. Perform defect management using tools such as Jira. 

 

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Engineering (Any), Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of experience in Java development or quality assurance, or a related field; OR Master’s degree or the equivalent in Engineering (Any), Computer Science, or related field and 2 years of experience in Java development or quality assurance, or a related field. 

 

Skills required: Experience performing quality assurance activities on ETL data pipelines. Experience working on pipelines developed on distributed platform Hadoop. Experience with test plan and test case preparation. Experience with automation testing utilizing Big Data technologies including Spark, Scala, and Python. Experience testing third-party API Webservices using Soap UI and Postman with groovy scripting. Experience testing data sources on cloud platform Microsoft Azure. Experience with functional, end to end, and regression testing of data pipelines. Experience validating data accuracy, data integrity, data validity, and data completeness using Unix scripts and Hive. Experience working in Agile environment. Experience with defect management using Jira. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
