What you'll do...

The Analyst II of Space Planning and Modular Development is a customer advocate identifying opportunities across large number of categories by analyzing Walmart’s assortment and making recommendations for improved customer experience. Your work resolving store remedy errors through root cause analysis and solution recommendations while suggesting process improvements with the broader team will not only support operations but also influence ongoing process enhancements. To ensure a smooth modular process, you will carry out modular execution tasks such as relay creation, managing modular turn in process from external category advisors, timely issue resolution to ensure adherence to schedule, and running diagnostics reports to confirm future modular efficiency goals are being met so we are making it easier for our customers to shop.

What you'll do...

  • Execute category modular assortments and design layouts by developing and validating the category purchase decision hierarchy tree; working with buyers to align modular development with overall category strategy; determining clusters of stores based on similar selling patterns; reviewing effectiveness of previous modular; creating predominant modular assortment and design layouts for categories; overseeing others in modifying predominant modular assortment and design layout based on individual store needs; and overseeing the process and accuracy of modular execution.
  • Implement modular cluster variations based on the modular layout template, assortment strategy, and merchandising rules by analyzing optimal item assortments; maintaining modular layout design; recommending alternate solutions when design integrity is compromised; preparing reports for use in the modular walkthrough; and developing the modular cover letter detailing strategy and execution instructions.
  • Implement strategic opportunities for assigned categories in the design and development of category modulars by reviewing internal and external data sources; compiling multiple data sources; identifying product and customer trends within categories; comparing Walmart and competitor data; and determining market gaps.
  • Implement modular relay process for assigned category by managing deadlines and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress to management; collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure completion of modular milestones according to timeline; organizing and participating in modular meetings; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and escalating areas of opportunity throughout the relay process to ensure effective process management with internal and external partners.
  • Resolve escalated modular store remedy errors by researching remedy tickets to determine root cause; identifying possible solutions; evaluating possible solutions and determining final solution with the most impact; collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine implementation plans; implementing solutions to deliver buyer strategy and support sales; communicating solutions to stores; escalating issues to cross-functional teams as necessary; and communicating issues to teams to expedite future solutions.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
