What you'll do at

Oversees the development of trend direction and creative design by driving initiatives and activities for team and external partners to efficiently research trend direction and creative design (for example, multiple levels of retail markets, domestic and international shows, and trend services); consulting and building relationships with business leaders (for example, internal merchants, product development, marketing, suppliers, and external partners) to leverage all resources for trend and creative development; consulting and building relationships with merchant leaders to influence and align on strategic objectives; and driving the communication of trend and creative direction across multiple business units including international markets. Develops corporate positions on color and trend, silhouette innovation, and style relevance by reviewing, researching, and analyzing runway, editorial, and trend services; and staying up-to-date on emerging social, economic, global, and pop culture. Ensures supplier products comply with Walmart color standards and expectations by working with custom color suppliers and test laboratories to communicate color expectations and standards; reviewing laboratory test results to verify supplier products comply with standards; and managing light box maintenance schedules to support consistency in color appearance. Serves as a subject matter expert on color science and the development for cross-functional product development and sourcing teams by educating product teams and suppliers on color sciences and proper color evaluation techniques; and maintaining color quality standards. Oversees development of color production by negotiating time lines, costs, and prices and providing guidance to direct report(s); and leveraging multiple brands use of color. Oversees the development of the seasonal color palette by engaging product development teams to align color palettes with the seasonal strategy; matching and cross-referencing existing color libraries to maximize production efficiencies, sustainability, and supplier ease of use and avoid duplication; and identifying and resolving issues with color production. Oversees development of three-dimensional product sketches based on product development and sourcing team specifications by studying products, illustrations, and photographs; rendering sketch details in Adobe Illustrator; preparing cutaways as requested; maintaining and updating the sketch and product fold libraries; and communicating direction on materials, dimensions, and folds to sourcing and technical management, suppliers, and third-party testing laboratories. Ensures the consistency and sustainability of custom color management by overseeing the physical color library of custom colored textiles, plastics, paper, woods, metals, as well as the virtual color library of available color options; and maintaining RGB values in the product life cycle management system. Ensures maintenance of color and brand information by maintaining brand books; recording color changes and evolution of color adoption; maintaining color databases; creating and maintaining records of seasonal color call outs and adopted colors; creating, maintaining, and sharing digital databases of color services; and maintaining and updating color standard providers and heather color volume books.
