What you'll do...
As a Supplier Food Safety Director, you will be responsible for business processes strategy development and maintenance. This includes partnership with members of global Food Safety COEs, sourcing and technical development teams to leverage knowledge, share best practice/lessons learned, and identify emerging opportunities to improve the program.
The ideal candidate for the role will be a strategic, influential, and progressive food safety science leader with the ability to translate business challenges into actionable solutions in a highly complex, rapidly evolving environment. You are someone who builds trust and credibility and inspires associates across the business. You are action-oriented, resourceful, and approachable while also having the ability to influence and lead change, based on your deep scientific knowledge, proven expertise, and network.
You’ll sweep us off our feet if:
Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Bachelor’s, or related degree, CQE, Experience. -15+ years
Strong knowledge in business process change management
Successful track record of building, implementing, and improving operational processes; familiarity with continuous process improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma or LEAN, a plus
Ability to facilitate strategic discussions with business leaders to identify needs, align on goals, scope requests, and plan strategy for new product training, delivery, and scale
Comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, able to methodically work through complex problems, set priorities, and execute on commitments
You’ll make an impact by:
Managing one direct report (Sr. Manager I - Business Process Development)
Applies structured change management methodology to facilitate change and promote adoption; can identify the need for agility and how to modify this approach to meet the needs of the stakeholders
Develop and communicate business processes to implement the Supplier Food Safety, PDHA and Food Fraud Standards to manage risk with a science-based approach
Strong knowledge of quality management processes including quality monitoring, process improvement, and customer journey mapping
Identifies pitfalls and potential points of challenge or change aversion. Conducts thorough methodological investigations to identify key stakeholders impacted by the change and determines appropriate timing of that change
Creates training and awareness strategies, that maximizes stakeholder engagement and adoption and yield desired outcomes
Enhances corporate tools and training on how to conduct root cause analyses, how to interpret the findings, defining appropriate corrective actions and what to do with the data at micro and macro levels to drive risk reduction in food safety matters across all Private Brands Categories
Develops and keep up to date Web requirements, compliance procedures and SOPs for the US market
Supplier COE support and 3rd party liaison for supplier management service suppliers to ensure calibration, consistency, etc.
Global and US Scorecard/Metrics oversight
Perform the US Supplier Management Control Plan to ensure data in internal and external Systems (ProSpec, HIVE, FAS integration, Trade automation, Registrar Corp, and Tracegains, and UBX databases) is accurate and consistent
Map roles and responsibilities of supplier onboarding process, launch of new products, and reformulations. Develop and train key stakeholders for proper execution following the Plan-Do-Check-Act model
Manage Food Safety related Complaints, investigations, and corrective action trends from customers and regulatory bodies
Reviews, monitors, and measures supplier food safety key performance indicators (KPI) by understanding food safety standards; determining appropriate action steps to ensure compliance as well as proactively predicting potential risks and developing mitigation alternatives
Facilitates engagement and appropriate communications with cross-functional teams (including Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and key business stakeholders) to ensure a transparent and comprehensive compliance strategy consistent with business objectives
Keeps abreast of external best practice through industry collaboration e.g., with GFSI, trade associations and published data
Training, education: Provision of content for consistent approach in science-based food safety education efforts
