We connect billions of shopping behaviors to real transactions, and help marketers truly understand how their marketing drives results.


At WMC, Vertical Brand Strategy leverages data and insights on customers, categories, trends, etc. to create actions-oriented sales enablement strategies that articulate how our client and agency partners can better connect with customers, to grow their business and drive results at Walmart through WMC media and marketing solutions.

Vertical Brand Strategy is focused on driving partnerships and investment in WMC.


Walmart Connect (WMC) is looking for an experienced data-driven strategist, storyteller and marketing insights guru to partner with WMC Sales to drive growth and excellence across Hardlines, Home and Small Business (SMB) accounts.  It covers Hardlines, Home, Stationary, Sporting Goods, Automotive, Hardware, Paint, Lawn & Garden, Home Décor, Bath & Shower, Bedding, Furniture, Home Management.  

As WMC’s lead sales enablement strategist focused on Hardlines, Home and SMB, you will plan, communicate and execute roadmaps to develop and oversee insights-driven strategic output, leading category partnerships with Sales and Marketing—within WMC and across the Walmart enterprise.  Through Sales, you will also drive a value-exchange and strategic alignment with Walmart category merchants—to help the organization deliver synchronously as one Walmart.

You will leverage omnichannel insights to create marketing and media strategies that drive growth for Walmart Connect’s brand partners through go-to-market strategic recommendations, sales enablement playbooks, case studies, and marketing collateral.  

This position sits under WMC Marketing and reports to the Director of Vertical Brand Strategy. 

Ideal candidate profile:

We’re looking for an exceptionally ambitious, smart and strategic individual who is excited and capable of creating breakthrough customer-centered strategies to drive growth for Walmart Connect, Walmart and suppliers.

The ideal candidate has a proactive and consultative approach, brings deep industry and Hardlines, Home and SMB category experience, is highly analytical and exceptionally articulate in crafting insights-driven strategies.  They are self-motivated and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.


  • Establish and drive a proactive and strong partnership and way of working with the WMC Sales team (Team Leads, Partner Managers and Client Partners) to identify specific goals and needs; build, communicate and execute annual and quarterly roadmaps to deliver; and set, track and report key performance results that demonstrate value and business impact in quantifiable and qualitative terms.

  • Set and deliver objectives and key results (OKRs) that ladder up to the Director’s OKRs to support the business, providing OKRs for direct reports to align to.

  • Assess and seek input to make recommendations to reprioritize and gain alignment when necessary to deliver on goals and changing needs.  Through this, demonstrate operational agility and excellence. 

  • Produce and oversee the development of insights-driven, actionable strategies that support the annual Sales strategy and link to WMC’s core ad product, media and marketing solutions—landing on clear and compelling always-on, pulse, and integrated marketing recommendations that help WMC Sales pitch for investment and suppliers achieve goals.  Meet deadlines and elevate output.

    • This includes sourcing intelligence and collaborating with enterprise centers of excellence to create category deep dives and strategic recommendations, media strategy playbooks, marketing collateral, etc.

    • It also involves supporting JBPs, QBRs, Top-to-tops, Immersion Days, “One Walmart” sessions, and ad hoc requests for sizeable pitches.

  • Produce best-in-class case studies that bring WMC’s solutions, and media and marketing activations to life through a strong insights-driven and customer-centric narrative.  These will support pre-sales, as well as internal and external marketing.

  • Motivate, coach and grow direct reports to thrive professionally at WMC, and contribute to build a collaborative culture that upholds and celebrates Walmart’s values—where diversity of backgrounds and opinions are celebrated, and points of view are encouraged.

  • Proactively develop and lead a strong and systematic partnership and value exchange with Walmart enterprise category and seasonal marketing teams to align WMC’s strategic recommendations for suppliers with Walmart’s merchandising and marketing strategies.

  • Consistently deliver a balance of analytical rigor and storytelling in every single output and communication, always being prepared to convey insights and influence with a strong point of view.


  • Relevant bachelor’s degree for this role.  MBA or advanced-level academic degree strongly preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience specifically focused on strategy-driven media/marketing sales enablement, digital or e-commerce media, strategic planning or performance marketing—brand, supplier, agency or media side.

  • At least 4 years of experience managing, coaching and motivating direct reports.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A balance of right brain, left brain: Being highly analytical, curious by data and articulate in connecting insights to strategies that demonstrate creativity and have a compelling story arc and narrative.


  • Relevant Hardlines, Home and SMB experience in the context of insights-driven digital media and marketing strategy, as well as ecommerce.  Sales enablement strongly preferred.

  • Relevant experience working within the media arm of an omnichannel or e-commerce retailer.
