About the Team  

At Walmart, our stores serve hundreds of millions of customers every week. The Front End Design Teamcreates great customer moments for checkout and returns, ensuring that the front of the store has a fast, easy, and friction free exit experience to finalize the shopping journey, and if that customer needs to return an item, we make it super-efficient for both the customer and the store associates.  

We work across multiple disciplines where UX, Process design, Industrial design, and Service design, all come together to create a complete and wholistic experience. We are looking for a creative and talented Principal UX Product Designer who can think across multiple disciplines to create wholistic workflows. We use imagination, logic, and collaborative workshopping to generate new ideas, we utilize cutting edge technology paired with proven standards to change how our stores work. We prototype innovations in our test labs and partner with research to rapidly iterate designs live in one of our 4000+ stores.

This opportunity is in Bentonville, Arkansas where we are expanding our awesome design community in our new, state-of-the-art campus.

  • Experience facilitating design sprints, workshops, or research sessions. 

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You embrace constraints and the unknown; you enjoy discovering and defining the problem space.  

  • You are authentic and can truly connect with people, you are good at communicating, listening, and sharing, with kindness, humility, and empathy. 

  • You’re a strong communicator and storyteller able to clearly articulate design rationale and influence decision-making with multiple stakeholders.

  • Designing best-in-class product experiences with a focus on craft. 

  • Partnering with design research, product managers, and engineers to create insightful design solutions.  

  • Constantly balancing business goals with user needs.  

  • Rapid prototyping and experimenting in a fast-paced environment.

  • Creating scalable experiences in partnership with our Design System team. 

  • Championing the Design Thinking philosophy throughout the business.   

  • Collaborating seamlessly with cross-functional partners.   

  • Staying up to date with the latest trends, in and out of retail. 

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Degree in Industrial Design, Digital Design, HCI, Information Architecture, or similar and 7+ years of experience in product design. 

  • A fantastic portfolio. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
