Develops and implements network designs that have high availability and scalability consistent with company needs by assisting technical experts and senior network engineers in setting technical direction; developing technology roadmaps; gathering requirements to support new network implementations; evaluating supplier products; making recommendations relative to supplier products and services; understanding the relationship between departmental standards and technical decisions; researching and presenting information about new technologies; developing design references; participating in design reviews; and ensuring compliance with information technology governance standards.
Provides project management for small to large projects by completing project documentation in accordance with program management office guidelines; assigning tasks to project participants; owning tasks or groups of tasks; determining and gathering business and technical requirements; representing projects to the area project council; participating in the budgeting process; leading the team to accomplish tasks; ensuring projects are completed within budget; and removing obstacles and barriers for team members.
Provides support for network infrastructure problems by monitoring the team's support queue; troubleshooting and diagnosing problems; identifying the root causes of problems; ensuring corrective action is taken following problem identification; developing plans of action to address network performance problems; aiding team members in the resolution of problems; and holding suppliers accountable for delivering corrective actions.
Oversees enhancements and changes to the network environment by involving senior team members and suppliers in enhancement opportunities; observing network performance trends and utilization; developing plans of action to address network performance trends; reviewing plans and proposed network changes; and serving on the area change council.
Develops relationships with key business partners and customers by seeking feedback relative to their business needs; interfacing with them on a regular basis; participating in customer meetings; assisting in transforming customer needs into technical solutions that deliver business value and improve business practices; and engaging suppliers to drive solutions for the business.
Develops the technical and business knowledge of team members by assigning specific tasks; assisting team members with completing assigned tasks; holding team members accountable for compliance with departmental network standards; ensuring administrator-level teammates' technical knowledge is advancing; recognizing team accomplishments; sharing technical knowledge through mentoring relationships; conducting formal and informal training on various technical topics and project management processes; and providing subject matter expertise.
