About Walmart Creative Studio

Walmart Creative Studio is the in-house creative agency at Walmart. Our team develops breakthrough omnichannel creative that meets customer needs & drives business objectives, while keeping our Fortune #1 brand relevant in culture. Role is on site at in Los Angeles, CA.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Composing copy that gets to the heart of who our customers are & inspire them. You’ll cover a range of topics, assets, & channel types.
  • Collaborating with & mentoring copywriters, helping them improve skills & performance.
  • Gaining a deep understanding of our brand’s core principles, tone & voice, plus copy & campaign style guides, applying that understanding to crafting copy that supports business goals.
  • Independently managing multiple copy projects on different timelines with varying levels of ambiguity, complexity & importance to the business.
  • Meeting copy deadlines in coordination with project management, account management & creative team.
  • Preparing well-structured drafts that are on-brief, meet the 3 C’s (Conversational, Captivating & Confident) & demonstrating your knowledge of our customer & your ability to do research on a subject, product, industry, company/organization & technology.
  • Independently collaborating with Design & other team members to come up with creative solutions to meet business goals.
  • Using critical thinking skills to translate strategic marketing initiatives into informative, concise & compelling copy solutions.
  • Making edits following feedback from partners including marketers, site managers, editors, legal & copy leadership.
  • Approaching copy feedback & edits from partners with a positive, collaborative attitude & willingness to learn & grow.
  • Adhering & contributing to the evolution of the brand tone of voice & copy style guide.
  • Attending & engaging in project kick-off & follow-up meetings by asking proactive questions, seeking clarity, pushing on the brief & anticipating required information to compose effective copy. Confidently explaining creative choices & work with partners to reach consensus on feedback.
  • Taking character limitations & design constraints into account when creating copy & partnering with editors to resolve writing or grammar issues.
  • Ensuring copy is error-free, participating in the quality assurance (QA) phases of projects to help ensure all final copy has been correctly implemented online & conducting audits to identify & document errors.
  • Staying up to date on competitors, technology developments, plus industry & media trends as it pertains to retail & marketing. Contributing your knowledge to the team through meeting presentations or other channels.
  • Covering copy projects for copywriters during PTO, sick days, etc. as needed.
  • Acting as proxy for copy leadership in meetings & communications with partners, as needed.
  • Assisting copy leadership in creating & documenting processes & tools for the team.
  • Maintaining a positive, can-do attitude. Seeking answers to ambiguous asks, being comfortable working autonomously & quickly pivoting direction based on changing business needs.

Qualifications

  • BA in Journalism, Creative Writing, Advertising, or related field & 5+ years’ copywriting experience.
  • 3+ years' experience copywriting for an e-commerce brand.
  • Ability to work autonomously & self-manage, as well as collaborate closely.
  • Excellent proofreading skills & attention to detail.
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves & do what it takes to get the job done.
  • Proactive, comfortable with ambiguity, & flexible in the face of shifting business needs due to the rapidly changing nature of marketing, retail, & ecommerce.
  • High emotional intelligence, excellent relationship-building skills, able to manage expectations well across a wide variety of partners & expertise areas.
  • Fantastic sense of humor is a plus!

The annual salary range for this position is $96,000.00-$186,000.00
