Position: Senior Manager, UX Design
Job Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Drives user experience solutions across a medium- to large-sized portfolio of projects by translating business needs into actions and roadmaps; evaluating the scope of projects; designing scalable, reliable, extensible, and maintainable user experience frameworks while balancing resources, constraints, requirements and complexity; directing other project team members to define or select methods to be used (for example, competitive audits, secondary research); managing the creation of user experience frameworks, process flows, site maps, wireframes, and prototypes to advance the company's merchandising, business, marketing, and branding objectives; developing scalable and flexible design frameworks and patterns to ensure the user experience is simple and cohesive; presenting design to project and business teams for review; collaborating with Engineering leads to determine efficacy of given solution; supervising the production of detailed specifications; and reviewing project requirements document (PRD) to ensure correct translation of design. Drives, maintains, and delivers user experience design consistency across software design efforts in collaboration with Engineering Architects by formulating project needs and measures of success; developing and implementing user experience strategy to solve for near-term launch with consideration for long-term portfolio evolution; analyzing user tasks; designing optimum workflow to improve customer experience; requesting and attending usability and brainstorming sessions; and presenting user experience flow and project decisions to senior leadership. Drives continuous improvement of User Experience tools, documentation, and process by maintaining holistic viewpoint when tackling portfolio decisions; defining solutions frameworks from a scalable and global viewpoint; recommending changes to and governing the evolution of site standards; collecting feedback and industry research standards; reviewing and approving projects based on best practices; and guiding the creation of patterns and styles. Drives experience strategy and innovation to improve user experience by evaluating the current competitive landscape for compelling customer experiences; analyzing future trends and forecasts in related fields; constructing compelling artifacts outlining present conditions and proposed solutions; designing transitional roadmaps for the future or by clarifying existing user experience frameworks for medium- to large-sized project portfolios; and presenting information within and across the organization to gain strategic alignment and encourage change. Define the key problems to be addressed in research projects. Designs and drives a research strategy to meet identified research needs. Reviews the relevance and usefulness of findings against research objectives outlined in research project plans. Leads the production of final research findings and associated outcomes. This position supervises 5 employees (3 Senior UX Designers; 1 Staff UX Designer; and 1 UX Designer III).
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or equivalent in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 3 years of experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area; OR Bachelor's degree or equivalent in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 5 years of experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
Skills required: Experience with research strategy and execution. Experience with user-centered design principles, native mobile conventions, information hierarchy, task analysis, system design processes, and contributing to pattern libraries for consistent and scalable design solutions. Experience creating platform-specific designs based on their respective design languages, including Android's Material Design and iOS's human interface guidelines (HIC). Experience designing and developing prototypes and technical proofs of concept. Experience building interactive models that can access live content and building reusable components and tools to enable and facilitate prototyping. Experience with customer requirements, optimizing processes, communication/influencing techniques, and driving customer delight. Experience with stakeholder management, collaboration, and fostering creativity across diverse markets and international partners. Experience with communication and influencing and building relationships. Experience guiding discussions, leveraging data insights, acting as an advisor, and providing effective feedback. Experience with user profiles, testing scenarios, documentation, and test plans. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $294,299/year to $294,299/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
