Position Summary...

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and business-minded Senior Counsel, Privacy and Consumer Services to join Digital Citizenship’s Data and Technology legal team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor on data privacy and consumer protection matters with special emphasis on privacy issues related to financial services, marketing, and children’s privacy, supporting a broad range of initiatives across our enterprise.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable innovative consumer services and products while ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations and consumer protection laws related to financial services, marketing, and children’s privacy.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the legal frameworks that support our customer-first approach to data, trust, and responsible innovation.

What you'll do...

  • Provide legal counsel on privacy, data protection, and consumer protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, GLBA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, FTC regulations).

  • Advise on the development and launch of new consumer-facing products and services, ensuring alignment with privacy-by-design and regulatory compliance principles.

  • Advise on agreement terms related to privacy and consumer disclosures.

  • Monitor evolving global privacy laws and consumer regulations, assessing and advising on impact to the business.

  • Collaborate with e-commerce, compliance, financial services teams, marketing, product, engineering, and security teams to design practical, scalable solutions that mitigate risk while enabling growth.

  • Develop and maintain internal policies, playbooks, and training to promote privacy and consumer protection awareness across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.

  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, with a focus on privacy, data protection, and/or consumer protection law specifically related to financial services and marketing.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. and international privacy frameworks, consumer rights laws, and regulatory enforcement trends.

  • Experience advising on consumer-facing products, including credit card relationships, banking relationships, insurance programs, marketing, loyalty programs, and digital services.

  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to explain complex legal concepts in clear, actionable terms.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
