Sr. Copywriter, (Concept & Copy) Brand Campaigns

Location: Los Angeles, CA

About us:

Walmart Creative Studio (WCS) is the in-house creative agency for Walmart. Our team develops breakthrough and distinctive omnichannel brand design systems that meet customer needs and drive business objectives while keeping our Fortune #1 brand relevant in culture. We use creativity and design to make Walmart an obvious choice for all.

We are positioned as an internal creative agency hyper-focused on the customer experience across all channels, categories, campaigns, and touchpoints. We are ruthlessly focused on our customers, insight-driven creative strategies, and integrated solutions that build the brand and grow the business.

We value talent, belonging, innovation, curiosity, collaboration, culture, insights, and results, and we are committed to helping all people save money and live better.

Overview:

We’re seeking a self-starting, experienced Senior Copywriter to concept and craft stories that connect—across every channel and every stage of the funnel. From paid media and broadcast to digital, social, email, site, print, and in-store, you’ll bring a clear, compelling voice to everything you touch.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in advertising, brand storytelling, and creative writing, with a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of how to write for different formats and audiences. You know how to turn insights into big ideas and bring them to life with language that’s emotional, effective, and on-brand.

This role partners closely with creative leads and cross-functional teams, with a focus on full-funnel campaigns—but you’ll flex where needed to help tell a cohesive, human story across the customer journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Development
    • Create copy that’s thumb-stopping and rooted in emotional truth—sharp, colorful, and unmistakably Walmart.
    • Concept, write, and refine 360 campaign assets across every touchpoint—from high-level brand messaging to mid- and lower-funnel performance creative.
    • Think big while maintaining a sharp eye for detail—whether you’re writing a headline, a social post, or an audio spot.
    • Collaborate closely with designers, editors, and strategists to bring ideas to life and evolve them across platforms and formats, creating work that’s as strategically sound as it is creatively bold.

  • Execution & Iteration
    • Take the lead on copy from first draft to final polish—whether you’re building the big idea or refining a tagline.
Craft to the constraints—understand platform nuances, respect character counts, and know when to break the rules.
    • Review and respond to video and audio edits with thoughtful, actionable feedback.

  • Brand & Voice Stewardship
    • Bring out the personality of the brand in ways that fit the format and deepen connections with customers.
    • Create copy that feels intentional, from high-level messaging to the smallest supporting details.

  • Project Ownership
    • Manage the creative needs of projects from kickoff to launch, making sure ideas stay strong and timelines stay on track.
    • Be a steady creative voice in the room—guiding the work and helping cross-functional teams cross the finish line with confidence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in creative writing, advertising, or related field.
  • 5+ years copywriting experience in a professional advertising agency or in-house creative team, ideally in a senior role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful 360 campaigns.
  • Experience writing across the full funnel—from brand storytelling to performance copy.
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing conceptual thinking, strategic storytelling, and execution across formats, including high-performing video and static paid media assets.
  • Strong grasp of voice, tone, and brand messaging, with ability to adapt across channels while staying consistent.
  • Collaborative mindset and experience working closely with design, strategy, and marketing partners
  • Experience working and collaborating in industry-standard tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, and Figma.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and refining work based on feedback and performance insights.
