Position: Data Assurance Engineer III

Job Location: 10790 Parkridge Dr., Reston, VA 20191

Duties: Identifies and implements data loss prevention solutions by gathering requested information; writing, testing, and debugging programs (for example, .NET, Java) and scripts (e.g., batch, PowerShell, Perl) for Incident Management; participating in code reviews; using commands and utilities; monitoring alerts and other system checks and balances; managing system performance, availability, and reliability; implementing improvements to products, alerts, and monitors; and compiling documentation. Develops and implements data loss prevention system solutions and changes by assisting Technical Experts in setting technical direction; gathering requirements to support implementations; coordinating changes with customers and other system areas; ensuring testing and validation of solutions and changes; evaluating the system environment; evaluating supplier products; making recommendations relative to supplier products and services; researching and presenting information about new technologies; reviewing changes before and after product installations; developing and reviewing system documentation; participating in cross-departmental solution reviews; and representing Cybersecurity on divisional councils. Supports data security by responding to customer requests, questions, and problems related to Data Assurance; working problem tickets; ensuring ticket resolution across team; troubleshooting problems for root causes; reviewing problem resolutions and installation plans according to defined procedures; installing identified changes according to change procedures; and communicating findings and status updates to customers. Monitors data movement by utilizing data loss prevention (DLP) tools in accordance with internal policies; analyzing alerts and finding correlating data points between various feeds (e.g., network-based, file-based, database, web), tools (for example, network DLP, endpoint DLP), and personal interactions; and analyzing data and providing guidance for further action. Cyber Risk Management: contributes towards development of cyber risk assessment and/or management techniques to identify security gaps and weaknesses in the business. Designs cyber risk assessments by consolidating insights from the business and various functions. Identifies cyber security risks, threats and vulnerabilities, and their impact on the organization. Identifies possible treatments for cyber risks, threats and vulnerabilities identified. Identifies and propose implementation of endorsed mitigation measures to address security gaps. Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. Code Development and Testing: writes code to develop the required solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements. Creates test cases to review and validate the proposed solution design. Creates proofs of concept. Tests the code using the appropriate testing approach. Deploys software to production servers. Contributes code documentation, maintains playbooks, and provides timely progress updates. Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or in a related field plus 2 years of experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company or related experience; OR 4 years or experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

Skills required: Must have experience with: SQL query building & analysis to build reports and dashboards in various platforms; Collaboration platforms like SharePoint; Incident response, platform risk discovery and posture recommendations; Designing and implementing SOAP and REST APIs using Python; Frameworks & standards like NIST, PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK; Managing security products like intrusion detection systems, email protection systems; Security policy development and implementation; Security assessment and security technology evaluation; Building scalable, fault tolerant service oriented applications using Python, JavaScript; Configuration and maintenance of DLP systems based on emerging threats and vulnerabilities; Developing playbooks for incident management; Coding using programming languages (JavaScript, Python).
