As a Senior Pricing Manager at Sam's Club, you will develop and modify comprehensive retail pricing strategies for high complexity categories, ensuring alignment with company objectives and maximizing profit margins. You will manage the analysis of current pricing strategies, benchmark competitor margins, and communicate pricing information to various levels of management. Additionally, you will execute promotional pricing strategies, develop pricing personnel, and drive business plans and projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic thinking, data analysis skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and extensive business development experience within the retail industry. What youll do:
- Develop and Modify Pricing Strategies:Create and adjust comprehensive retail pricing strategies for high complexity categories based on volume, product lines, competition, or category penetration. This includes determining known value items, benchmarking comparable items sold by competitors, and utilizing Sams Club pricing systems to maximize profit margins while meeting category and company objectives.
- Analyze Performance:Manage the analysis of current pricing strategies for low complexity categories by reviewing sales, profits, margins, in-stock, markup, and markdown data. Maintain up-to-date statistics based on defined performance metrics.
- Benchmark Competitor Margins:Ensure fair supplier pricing by evaluating trade fund allocation, cost components, obtaining cost increase justifications, and conducting market track analysis to determine the on-sale and off-sale mix of competitors.
- Communicate Pricing Information:Present pricing strategies for high complexity categories to the category team or leadership, serving as a spokesperson on Walmarts competitive price gap and strategy performance. Provide clear performance measures of executed strategies to multiple levels of management.
- Execute Promotional Pricing Strategies:Collaborate with cross-functional partners to create promotional strategies and events. Participate in item selections and pricing validation, ensuring consistency and compliance with applicable laws, company philosophy, and pricing strategies.
- Develop Pricing Personnel:Provide training on pricing strategy processes and tools, prepare and teach boot camps, review and provide feedback on pricing strategies, and assist in the preparation of analytics.
- Drive Business Plans and Projects:Identify customer and operational needs, develop and communicate business plans and priorities, remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance, provide resources, identify performance standards, measure progress, and adjust performance accordingly.
- Supervise and Develop Associates: Build a team-based work environment, manage performance expectations, conduct regular performance touch bases, provide recognition and rewards, coach for success and improvement, and ensure belonging awareness.
- Promote Company Policies:Train and provide direction to others in the use and application of company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Ensure compliance and support the Open Door Policy.
- Evaluate Business Needs:Assess the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives. Consult with business partners, managers, coworkers, or other key stakeholders, solicit, evaluate, and apply suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and participate in and support community outreach events.
What youll bring:
- Strategic Thinking:Ability to build and manage relationships, understand the balance between merchants P&L and competitive analysis while balancing business needs.
- Data Analysis:Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and the ability to join and manipulate data from several sources.
- Excel Proficiency:Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, X and VLOOKUPs.
- Communication and Influence:Polished communicator who can convey data and information clearly and concisely. Ability to influence and partner effectively across large matrixed teams.
- Business Development Experience:8+ years of solid business development and strategic sales experience within the retail industry, encompassing strategy, e-commerce, merchandising, marketing, and/or consumer experience.
- P&L Management:Experience managing a P&L and utilizing performance to drive strategic roadmaps.
- Problem-Solving:Passion and tenacity for solving customer/member problems.
- Membership/Subscription Experience:Experience with membership, subscription, or loyalty programs. Marketing and e-commerce experience is also a plus.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and other data visualization tools.
- Project Management:Demonstrated experience in project management within a large merchant organization.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00-$155,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
