VIZIO’s Technology – Software and Services team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the HTML5 App platform team.  The team maintains and enhances the platform that enables hundreds of 3rd party Apps to run on Vizio TV's, which accounts for the majority of user viewing hours. The Senior Software Engineer will fix bugs, address technical debt and design / implement new features. In this role, you will be a member of a dedicated 8–10-person engineering team, and report to our Engineering Manager. The position is an individual contributor and will have no direct reports. We are looking for candidates with over 3 years of C++ experience, Python experience, and Linux Shell or System experience. We pride ourselves on being a collaborative team here at Vizio and to accomplish this, we are in office 5 days a week in our Dallas, TX office.

Your role as a Principal Software Engineer will be pivotal in shaping the future of our technological landscape and achieving our strategic goals.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the estimation and timely completion of assigned features from requirements through delivery.

Analyze logs and perform static code analysis to identify logic, design, and concurrency issues.

Create and update architecture, design documents, and behavioral tests.

Encourage robust software practices such as unit and integration testing, code review, and documentation.

Collaborate with other engineers, teams, product management, and business stakeholders to drive innovation and improve user experiences.

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.

3+ years of Python development experience.

Proven experience in developing and debugging embedded systems software.

Expertise in developing on Linux platforms and C++.

Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and asynchronous communication protocols.

Flexibility to deal with changing requirements and timelines.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Curiosity and drive to understand how things work “under the hood.”

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
