At Walmart Global Tech, the Marketplace Engineering team is at the forefront of redefining global commerce at scale. We are the backbone of one of the fastest-growing eCommerce platforms — Walmart Marketplace, where third-party sellers meet millions of customers every day. Our mission is bold: to deliver unmatched selection, competitive pricing, and a world-class pre-order, post-order experience, all powered by intelligent platforms and resilient systems.

We empower thousands of sellers to thrive by offering tools to manage every aspect of their digital storefront—from listing products to optimising prices and inventory, while ensuring exceptional customer experiences. Our systems monitor the entire seller lifecycle, leverage real-time data for insights, and seamlessly integrate with partner platforms across the Walmart ecosystem.

The Walmart Seller Fulfilled Group is poised to revolutionize the way third-party sellers approach fulfilment. Our team is dedicated to streamline the process for sellers to set up their shipping configurations with Walmart, prioritizing customer satisfaction above all else. By enhancing shipping services, expanding our product catalogue, and ensuring accurate delivery promises, we aim to deliver a superior experience to our customers.

This initiative involves navigating a complex and dynamic landscape, where we are constantly presented with challenging problems that require innovative solutions. Our vision is to build a best-in-classreliable, and cost-effective fulfilment platform that significantly reduces delivery times, improves transparency, and elevates both the seller and customer experience.

With an impressive 250% year-over-year growth, we are already seeing remarkable success. As we continue on this journey, we face a fast-paced, ambitious, and transformative path ahead. Every step we take builds toward setting new standards in fulfilment that will not only enhance the overall ecosystem but also position Walmart as a leader in e-commerce logistics. Our commitment to innovationefficiency, and excellence will drive us forward as we shape the future of fulfilment for third-party sellers.

We are tackling some of the most exciting and complex challenges in eCommerce and logistics today:

  • Designing a cost-efficient supply chain using Walmart’s fulfilment network.
  • Developing real-time carrier performance dashboards for sellers and internal teams.
  • Building capabilities like shipping protection, promotion platforms, and engagement engines to ensure long-term seller success.
  • Enabling cross-border logistics by disaggregating global flows — from first-mile to last-mile — and simplifying international trade through seamless duty and tax management.
  • Launching platforms to enable partner collaboration, audit and reconciliation, and intelligent shipping decisions using ML.
  • This is a unique opportunity to build for scale, innovate relentlessly, and impact billions of dollars in commerce — all while helping sellers grow with Walmart.

About Team: Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both of these stakeholders. We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites

What you'll do:

  • Design and build highly scalable, performant, and reliable backend systems for core marketplace logistics.
  • Apply ML solutions to model and optimize shipping decisions, fulfilment flows, and seller recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical and business requirements, ensuring world-class software quality.
  • Own the full software lifecycle—from design to development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and continuously improve platform components in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
  • Develop secure systems that protect private information and adhere to Walmart’s high standards of data security and compliance.
  • Mentor junior engineers, participate in code reviews, and help establish engineering best practices.
  • Innovate by identifying areas for technical improvement, automation, and system robustness.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Java-based object-oriented programming and building web-based Java EE applications.
  • Strong fundamentals in Data Structures, Algorithms, and system design.
  • 1 years of hands-on experience with Kafka, REST APIs, GraphQL, Spring, Hibernate and caching solutions.
  • 1 year experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms ( Azure or GCP).
  • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases like Cosmos, Elasticsearch, or MongoDB.
  • Exposure to CI/CD, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and build tools (Jenkins).
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Passion for continuous learning, improvement, and building high-impact platforms.
