What you'll do...

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety - Manufacturing to lead our environmental, health, and safety initiatives in our manufacturing facilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, supporting company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity, and promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

 

Primary location will be Robinson, TX.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates, including hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Utilize and support the Open Door Policy.
  • Support the quality of facility operations by reviewing and analyzing all manufacturing and fulfillment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify opportunities for increasing efficiencies and develop standard operating procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure environmental health and safety regulatory compliance by serving as a liaison between Walmart and external regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct compliance-related audits and inspections and perform related record keeping and data documentation duties.
  • Assist management with investigations and provide recommendations for preventative or corrective measures.
  • Ensure accurate environmental and injury or illness records are maintained.
  • Coordinate and follow up on compliance audits, and ensure reports are submitted as required.
  • Provide expertise in the area of environmental health and safety assessments, capital projects, work orders, and general related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with related laws, regulations, and rules.
  • Provide environmental health and safety problem-solving guidance at the facility, regional, and corporate levels as needed.
  • Develop and implement environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and training.
  • Lead operational execution by ensuring manufacturing and processing resources meet prescribed level-of-service standards.
  • Monitor product manufacturing and processing, and production capacity and activity to meet set timelines.
  • Communicate strategic goals and directions to reduce costs and optimize product improvements.
  • Oversee and administer the environmental health and safety management programs and systems.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement programs such as associate participation, associate health hazard analysis, safe operating procedures, risk management, loss control, spill prevention, hazardous waste, Department of Transportation, hazardous materials, emissions, emergency planning, and EPCRA initiatives.
  • Coordinate the budget preparation and delivery for facility.
  • Research and correct discrepancies.
  • Run reports and provide information on key budget lines by department as needed.
  • Ensure categories are correctly budgeted.
  • Forecast new expenses and projects for the upcoming year.
  • Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs, developing and communicating business plans and priorities, removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance, providing resources, identifying performance standards, measuring progress, and adjusting performance accordingly.
  • Develop contingency plans and demonstrate adaptability and supporting continuous learning.
  • Provide supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training, mentoring, assigning duties, building a team-based work environment, establishing performance expectations, and conducting regular performance evaluations.
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application.
  • Ensure compliance with them and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Ensure business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives, consulting with business partners, managers, coworkers, or other key stakeholders, soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness, and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
  • Asset Protection: Lead initiatives to protect company assets, including inventory, equipment, and facilities. Implement strategies to prevent theft, fraud, and other security risks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or related area and 3 years’ supervisory experience. Or 6 years’ experience in environment, health, and safety program management in food, food-related, or consumer package goods in a manufacturing environment.
  • Possesses knowledge of OSHA guidelines; Enforces compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

 

Preferred certifications a plus:

  • Certification in an environmental, health, and safety-related discipline (for example, Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)).
