We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at Sam's Club 

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining complex systems using Java programming language. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion while adhering to Sam's Club code of conduct. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. 

  • Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams. 

  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert javaadvice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. 

  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. 

  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices. 

  • As a backend Engineer with Sam’s Club Technology In-Club Team, you will work closely with our product, design, and front end teams to create amazing and intuitive experiences 

  • Develop software systems and solve complex problems by leveraging state-of-the-art technology. 
    Participate in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements and translating them into technical solutions. 

  • Ensure on-time delivery and communicate status and issues to team members and stakeholders 

  • Demonstrate up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance 

  • Utilize strong interpersonal skills in working with numerous internal teams and expand personal and team knowledge of new and upcoming products 

  • Contribute to all phases of the development life cycle and write well-designed, testable, efficient code. 

  • Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering and evaluating information

What you’ll bring: 

  • 2 to 3 years of development experience of building micro services using Java, Spring, Spring Boot technologies; experience working with distributed systems, message brokers such as Kafka or EventHub or ServiceBus or PubSub; NoSQL such as Cassandra or Cosmos; SQL resources such as Oracle or PostgresSQL or MSSQLServer; 

  • Ability to build products with focus on testability, someone who loves test coverage (well versed with Mockito and JUnit) 

  • Solid knowledge of OOPs concepts, design patterns. A disciplined approach to development, exception handling, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment 

  • Knowledge of building scalable and distributed containerized applications in Azure or GCP cloud environments. 

  • Working knowledge of CICD and agile methodologies. 

  • Bachelor of Science and 4 years' experience in software engineering OR Master of Science and 2 years' experience in software engineering. 

  • 2+ years of experience with developing and supporting complex systems using Java programming language. 

  • 2+ years of experience in hands on coding/development 

  • 2+ years of experience with Java/JEE/ NodeJS, Spring Framework. 

  • 2+ years of experience with Databases: Relational (Azure SQL, Postgres). 

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud: Azure Cloud Platform, Google Cloud Platform. 

  • 2+ years of experience with micro-services architectures, event-based architecture/ messaging frameworks (Kafka), Kubernetes, Docker) 

  • Monitoring & Alerting: Dynatrace, Splunk etc. 

  • CI/CD experience. 

  • Experience with TDD and automated testing frameworks. 

  • Experience with DevOps. 

  • Experience working in a KPI driven highly agile environment.
