Join our team as a pivotal leader where you'll drive strategic decision-making through advanced analytics in our assortment transformation efforts. You'll lead project scopes, develop data models and tools, and implement production-ready algorithms while fostering collaboration across teams and developing talent. Your expertise will help shape Walmart's assortment strategies, ensuring we meet customer needs and achieve business objectives.
The Director of Assortment Optimization Analytics, you’ll develop and own algorithms, tools, and processes that guide assortment strategy & decisions for Walmart store and eCommerce businesses. You’ll leverage your business acumen and technical skillset to provide thought leadership to your team and business stakeholders ensuring we build scalable solutions to optimize our assortment across all categories and channels. You’ll also work closely with merchant, product, engineering and data science teams partners to identify gaps, set vision, build & launch scalable solutions rapidly. Prior experience in retail analytics roles with a focus on space optimization, clustering, regression analysis, segmentation required.
What You'll Do...
- Business Partnerships: You'll provide consulting expertise and act as a subject matter expert to senior functional leadership, articulating the needs of current and future customers to drive business decisions.
- Project Scope: You'll lead all advanced analytics projects for all business areas, category, or prototype across platforms, ensuring solution and analytical plans reflect business priorities.
- Model Development: You'll lead the development and implementation of data models for all projects, aligning modeling solutions with business priorities and strategies.
- Proof of Concept and Prototype: You'll direct the implementation of production-ready complex algorithms, develop testing and validation methodologies, and present production-ready algorithms to gain cross-functional buy-in.
- Data Collection and Analysis: You'll direct the analysis of business issues, define data analysis strategies based on business priorities, and partner with leadership across all analytics functions.
- Collaboration: You'll partner with functional leadership and other cross-functional leaders to develop consultative solutions, ensure buy-in for recommendations, and maintain and develop relationships with external business partners and vendors.
- People Development: You'll ensure associates receive learning and development opportunities, coach team members to enhance skills and work performance, and identify new and emerging skills needed by Advanced Analytics associates.

- Have extensive experience in a senior role in advanced analytics, preferably in a merchandising or retail environment.
- Possess strong analytical skills and can lead advanced analytics projects and develop data models.
- Have excellent communication skills and have a proven ability to influence and persuade others.
- Can expertly develop and implement proof of concept and prototypes, and direct data collection and analysis.
- Are committed to promoting and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data analysis, data documentation, data quality monitoring and improvement.
- Strong understanding of organization’s needs and ability to drive change
- Strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to influence executive stakeholders and understand their points of view
- Strong customer focus and obsession with quality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
