As part of the Walmart US Store Operations and Capital organization, you will directly contribute to the success of Walmart’s retail growth strategy, collaborating with a team that is hyper-focused on enabling customers to shop however they want, anywhere and anytime.

This position supports our Walmart US stores capital strategy and asset life cycle, including monthly accounting and reporting, store new build and remodel strategy, special capital projects, and accounting system modernization.

  • The position is a highly engaged business accounting support role working directly with product, operations, and finance teams.
  • You will be responsible for:
    • Developing trusted, collaborative relationships with business partners across Walmart US (Real-Estate, End-to-End and Operations), Enterprise Business Services (EBS) and Technology teams as well as with other controllership business support teams.
    • Monitoring existing (and, as necessary, developing new) financial processes and flows, ensuring activities are appropriate for US GAAP.
    • Supporting financial accounting, monthly close, account reconciliation, audit, and internal controls processes.

  • You have experience with SAP Project Systems or other real-estate investment management systems.

  • Leadership: Leading by providing support and leadership to individuals from the Real-Estate, End-to-End and Operations Teams, EBS, Technology and Walmart US Controllership teams; lead regular meetings to drive project execution, ensure proper knowledge sharing, communication, and segment support.
  • Communications and Presentations: Able to effectively communicate and present at all levels within the organization.
  • Building strategic relationships: Maximize relationships across the organization to drive strong communications, strategic alignment, and clear project management across the segment and organization. Build internal partnerships to continue to gain insights and support the direction of business.
  • Operating with excellence: Set an example in driving actions plans and delivering excellence, promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Advises strategic business initiatives by representing the controllership in cross-functional development projects; analyzing and reviewing detailed plans that involve systems, operations, reporting, and accounting; representing monetary impact; and establishing solid internal controls.

Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.

Oversees processes and controls and P&L and balance sheet accounts for each assigned business area by monitoring projects, reviewing financial data; discussing strategy business impacts; and facilitating the relationship between team, internal customers, and external specialists.

Oversees accounting operations by utilizing knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards to provide guidance to business partners and to perform financial statement analysis and accounting.

Manages the mitigation of company risk exposure by designing and developing financial-related systems, system enhancements, and processes; monitoring and improving controls environment; ensuring coordination between cross-divisional departments and internal and external auditors; and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and generally accepted accounting principles.

Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00
