The Director, Enterprise Data Strategy is a critical role responsible for defining the enterprise data strategy and providing the operational leadership for execution.  This individual and their team will shape the enterprise data strategy, define, design, and implement the operating framework ensuring progress through adoption.

This leader will define a cohesive data strategy that aligns with business and functional strategies deemed critical to the success of Walmart’s long-term business objectives. They will build and manage relationships across the organization providing expertise on best practices, as well as ensuring adherence to the data strategy framework.  They are a seasoned leader with a demonstrated track record of articulating and implementing data strategy while building strong cross-functional teams and partnerships.  The ideal candidate will be an innovative, data-driven, strategic, and results-oriented leader with a strong passion for data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an enterprise data strategy, roadmap, and execution plan

  • Design and implement a federated operating model incorporating data governance, data management, data quality, data security, and data privacy ensuring effective data management across the organization.

  • Develop reporting KPIs and monitor them to assess progress on implementation of data strategy.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to identify and prioritize data initiatives with alignment to the enterprise data strategy supporting opportunities for growth through data value creation.

  • Serves as chair/leads coordination of data strategy forums.

  • Conduct industry and market research to inform data strategy, identify trends that align with Walmart data strategy, identify gaps and opportunities to support an ever-advancing data strategy and roadmap.

  • Develop business case studies and prioritize investments that further the enterprise data strategy and roadmap. 

You’ll sweep us off our fee if you have:

  • Deep understanding of data governance principles and practices including knowledge of data stewardship, data quality management, metadata management and data lifecycle management

  • Experience leading strategy planning, delivery, and governance activities for enterprise data with speed and excellence

  • Strong understanding of data technologies, tools, and platforms

  • Knowledge of privacy and regulatory compliance requirements

  • Strong leadership, influence and consensus building skills

  • Ability to manage and lead large scale projects with multiple cross functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Management and 6 years of related Data experience

  • Deep experience in Enterprise Data Management, Data Strategy, Data Literacy, Data Quality and Data Governance

  • 2 years of experience leading and completing cross-functional projects

  • Data Product experience | background

  • Experience working in Fortune 100 finance

  • Strong organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines

  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills

  • Detail and results-oriented with sense of urgency

  • Comfort with ambiguity

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business,information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 6 years’ experience inproject management, program management, program operations, or related area.Option 2: 8 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.
3 years’ supervisory experience.
