Director of Solution Design, Walmart Healthcare Research Institute
In WHRI, Solution Design is at the front end of the research cycle, building solutions for customers and owning relationships with pharmaceutical customers within the Walmart Healthcare Research Institute. The Director of Solution Design will take on a leadership role, managing solution design leads and overseeing multiple accounts. The Director and their team will have full accountability for the development of proposals including building new solutions, designing new products and managing customer accounts. This role requires extensive experience with clinical development, demonstrated expertise navigating matrixed enterprise environments and working collaboratively while putting the customer first. The ideal candidate will have an advanced science degree, experience in solution-based or business development roles within healthcare research, enjoy building proposals and have great relationship-building skills. We’re looking for folks who are practical and can execute, but with a healthy disregard for the impossible. To be on our team you must be mission-focused, passionate about bringing clinical research as a care option to communities and understand the potential of leveraging the Walmart infrastructure to transform healthcare research.
Provides strategic study planning input to optimize the effective operational execution of research projects for Walmart Health. Ensures cross-functional alignment on budget and timelines.
Provides strategic input to the Chief Medical Officer on resource planning and annual strategic operations planning processes. Secures personnel and funding for planned projects.
Ensures effective stakeholder management in a highly matrixed environment, allowing for successful collaborations with key functional stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a research project.
Effectively manages and communicates study budget and/or timeline changes with both internal and external key stakeholders and vendors and gains consensus for the implementation of changes.
Ensure the sharing of best practices in healthcare research with team members.
Proactively leads the identification, qualification, and selection of key collaborators/vendors as needed in support of healthcare research projects.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
