What you'll do...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Steward to join our Data Enablement team at Walmart. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the business value and relevance of data and data-enabled insights/decisions. You will have a deep understanding of the data ecosystem, including data management, data quality framework, data governance, data accessibility and scalability. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of the methods and applications that unlock the monetary value of data assets.

What you’ll do…

  • Understand, articulate, interpret and apply the principles of our defined strategy to unique, moderately complex business problems that may span multiple functions or domains.
  • You will be responsible for data discovery and data analysis utilizing analytical skills and best in class reporting tools
  • Identify suitable data sources, perform data quality checks, establish and implement data governance practices and maintain metadata documentation.
  • You will provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues, develop business cases for projects, and translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks aligned with the overall business strategy.

  • You have a strong understanding of the business context, including industry and environmental factors, business practices, and relevant business metrics.
  • You have knowledge in analytics, big data analytics, and automation techniques, as well as a solid understanding of business requirements and insights.
  • You can demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply it to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans.
  • You are a data-driven professional with a strong understanding of the business value of data and a passion for driving data-enabled insights and decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analysis, data documentation, data quality monitoring and improvement
  • Strong understanding of organization’s needs and ability to drive change
  • Strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to influence key decision-makers and understand their points of view 
  • Hands-on experience with best in class data cataloging and data analytics tools 
  • Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized.
  • Strong customer focus and obsession with quality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Data Architecture, or related field and 3 years' experience in data stewardship, data management, database administration, data analytics, or related field. Option 2: 5 years’ experience in data stewardship, data management, database administration, data analytics, or related field. Option 3: Master's degree in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, Data Architecture, or related field and 1 year’s experience in in data stewardship, data management, database administration, data analytics, or related field.
