About the Role  

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer HR Intern to join our dynamic Global People team at the Fortune 1 Company, Walmart. In this role, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of human resources management, learn from seasoned professionals, and contribute to the success of our organization that supports more than 2.3 million associates worldwide. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills, expand your professional network, and make a lasting impact on our company's mission and values.

Each year, only the top candidates are selected to receive an invitation to join the 2-year developmental Rotation Program after graduation, launching their careers on a fast track at the world's largest retailer.

What you’ll do: 

During the 11-week internship, participants will:

  • Have an opportunity to benefit from leadership development, professional mentorship and technical training in a functional area of the People business.

  • Be exposed to the vision, mission and strategic objectives of our People function.

  • Learn about numerous People-led initiatives and the various roles within Global People.

  • Become aware of associate needs and participate in discussions to address identified gaps.

  • Manage key milestones and deliverables related to their assigned internship project.

  • Take initiative, remain bold in their ideas and actively participate in all discussions.

  • Conduct internal and external research/benchmarking as appropriate.

  • Partner with other associates across teams/functions to identify solutions and present recommendations.

  • Build their network of People professionals across the enterprise and receive direct exposure to several People leaders, including the CPO/CHRO of all business segments, and exclusive exposure to the People Leadership Team.

  • Receive support and guidance from a host of individuals including mentors and a dedicated Program Manager who will host cohort-specific professional and social events and learning opportunities for the Global People interns.

  • Create life-long relationships with other interns through company-wide events sponsored by the Corporate Intern Program. i.e. Community Volunteering, Distribution Center Tours, Store Tours, Community Events and our annual softball game against the executives. These activities allow you to learn more about Walmart and socialize with interns from across the company.

  • You have excellent communication skills, enabling you to convey ideas and information clearly and concisely.

  • You possess the ability to craft compelling narratives that explain complex HR concepts and practices, fostering understanding and engagement among stakeholders and colleagues.

  • You're a cooperative team player with a can-do attitude and a strong commitment to contributing to a positive work environment.

  • You demonstrate adaptability and resilience in the face of change, while fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • All Interns:

    • Expected graduation date between December ’24 – August ’25

    • Minimum GPA:  3.5 

    • Willingness to relocate to Walmart’s Home Office Hub location after graduation: Bentonville, AR

  • Undergrade Interns:

    • Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program currently (Classification: Junior preferred)

      • Preferred majors: HR, Management, Business Administration, Finance, Psychology, or other related field

    • 0-2 years of part-time or full-time relevant experience

      • Preferred: 1 year of previous experience working in business or HR in either a full-time or part-time capacity

  • Graduate Interns

    • Students pursuing a Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or related field

    • 0-2 years of part-time or full-time relevant experience

      • Preferred: 1-2 years of previous experience working in business or HR in either a full-time or part-time capacity
