This highly visible global role at Walmart leads our best-in-class Event Solutions team, a broad group of event production experts and operational meeting planners responsible for developing and executing nearly 3,000 annual internal and external events and experiences for the largest company in the world. In this mission-critical role you’ll lead and inspire a large team; have strategic responsibility for our event planning, logistics and event production; oversee budgets, analytics, processes and tools; and work closely with third parties. The ideal candidate is a visionary, has proven Executive presence, is motivated by current and future technology trends, and masterful at managing multiple projects simultaneously with a calm demeanor.

Reporting to the VP of Corporate Communications, this role will partner with members of the C-suite, senior business and marketing leaders, communications and brand team, and other stakeholders to define and deliver world-class events and tailored experiences for our target audiences while also living our values. At Walmart, we aim to build a better world — helping people save money, live better and renew the planet while building thriving, resilient communities.

The Senior Director of Event Solutions will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our company's show programming (including event curation, talent, client engagement), event planning (including travel, registrations, invitations, sourcing) and production (including in-house and vendor and agency management). The successful candidate will be a creative and strategic thinker who can lead and manage a talented team of event professionals, is highly collaborative and builds excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow and enhance our meeting and events portfolio, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of all events, including budgets, timelines, staffing, logistics, and overall production quality.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key industry partners, clients, suppliers, and talent.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of event professionals, ensuring all team members are motivated, engaged, and working efficiently toward common goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and departments to ensure successful promotion, sponsorship, and financial viability of all events.
  • Continuously monitor trends, competitor activity, and audience preferences to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
  • Oversee event budgets and annual forecasting, and the RFP vendor process to ensure we have the right partners.
  • Set benchmarks and key performance indicators for event success, evaluating results, and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a company ambassador, representing the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry best practices, constantly driving for innovation and excellence.

  • Facilitating on-site rehearsals, including suggested content edits, speaker presentation feedback and in-the-moment ideation
  • Implementing, monitoring and enforcing pre-established event production budgets, making adjustments as needed and ensuring invoices are paid on time

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in event management or production, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of planning and executing large-scale, high-quality shows and events with complex budgets.
  • Exceptional people leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, collaborate and develop talent.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, with experience working with key industry stakeholders, partners, and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and leverage resources
  • Must be willing to travel throughout the year
  • Gracefulness under pressure and deadlines; must be able to manage multiple projects at once
  • Analytical and creative mindset
