About Walmart Energy Transformation
The Walmart Energy Transformation team is a newly reimagined energy team that was created to ensure the team has the resources and internal positioning to deliver on Walmart’s energy-related regenerative goals. The team now reports directly to the COO of Walmart US and the Chief Sustainability Officer.
This new organization is responsible for:
Ensuring energy security and reliability through purchasing energy and optimizing for the lowest cost in regulated and wholesale markets. Building value enhancing clean energy businesses around our unique asset base. Meeting our renewable’s goal of 100% renewables by 2030. Increasing the energy efficiency and reducing emissions across our facilities, and Meeting our 2040 Zero Emissions goal, including transitioning our fleet to zero emissions vehicles.
We are a team of seasoned energy veterans dedicated to realizing Walmart’s regenerative commitments and leveraging Walmart’s platform to support the decarbonization of our customers, associates, communities and suppliers. Because energy touches everything, we work across Walmart, particularly real estate, facilities, supply chain, network design, transportation and customer experience. What you’ll do…
You will execute on long-term global strategy to accelerate Walmart’s progress toward its 100% renewable energy goals in a manner that delivers value to shareholders, customers, and/or associates.
You will originate, execute, and manage long-term, strategic partnerships with renewable energy developers to secure programmatic access to renewable energy globally across Walmart’s geographic footprint, including execution of long-term power purchase agreements; leverage Walmart’s wholesale purchasing capabilities to develop and drive execution of value-optimized strategy to achieve decarbonization targets within desired timeframe.
You will originate and execute on value-creating initiatives to facilitate and accelerate decarbonization ambitions of Walmart’s supplier network.
You will support defining strategy for and drive execution of opportunities to deploy capital into offsite renewable energy projects, targeted at opportunities that deliver economic value, enable emissions reductions, and deepen customer and/or associate relationships through the expansion of access to low-cost, reliable clean energy.
You will build, develop, and retain high-performing team of professionals to originate, structure, and execute on opportunities and manage Walmart’s existing portfolio of investments.
You will maintain strong relationships with the renewable energy and decarbonization project developer community to ensure access to high-quality investment opportunities.
You will participate in internal and external stakeholder engagement with respect to Walmart’s sustainable and renewable energy initiatives, including identifying, reviewing, intervening, and participating in relevant state and federal policy and regulatory proceedings; collaborate on the development, maintenance, and ongoing changes of the tracking system and framework for delivering progress toward decarbonization objectives; travel to meet with regulatory agencies as needed; and monitor and manage energy-related sustainability affairs in international arenas.
You will participate in the regulatory and legislation influencing process by identifying, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting legislation, regulations and policy issues related to renewable and sustainable energy and greenhouse gas emissions; draft initial comments, rebuttals, and briefs; secure and direct outside legal counsel and technical consultants to assist in preparing and presenting Walmart's position; communicate in congressional, administrative, and regulatory testimony as necessary; propose solutions to management; and ensure testimony and briefs are prepared and submitted on time after securing approvals.
You will drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; develop and communicate business plans and priorities; remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance; provide resources; identify performance standards; measure progress and adjust performance accordingly; develop contingency plans; and demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning.
You will provide overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
You will develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
You will cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
You will develop and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
You will build strong and trusting relationships with team members and business partners; works collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve objectives; and communicates with energy and positivity to motivate, influence, and inspire commitment and action.
