Position: Software Engineer III

Job Location: 603 Munger Avenue, Dallas, TX 75202

Duties: Assists in providing guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline. Provides support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies); researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short- and long-term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain. Manages small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; researching and identifying alternative solutions; determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; identifying areas of opportunity; interpreting information and identifying a solution; ensuring solution is sustainable across implementation and use; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills Required: Must have experience with: analyzing requirements to develop software applications for Mobile platforms; utilizing data structures and algorithms to design performance concepts to generate or solve logic for application’s feature requirements; developing readable, maintainable, performant, scalable and reusable UI components using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java, C++, and XML; developing and debugging software using Android Studio integrated development environment with its software development kit components and tools like inline debugging and performance profilers to track application’s memory and CPU usage, Logcat to generate performance and debugging data for detailed app analysis, lint tool for code inspections, emulators to mimic app functions on real devices; developing and verifying operating systems using emulators running on API or OS levels; configuring and writing interfacing logic for external open-source libraries, upgrading Android OS or iOS versions when required by Google or Apple to maintain device and application software compatibility; using API management tools like Postman and SwaggerHub to test outputs of the network interfacing URLs for business requirements, provided by backend team, in a secure development environment; integrating REST APIs to handle network requests for displaying real time content; using debugging tools like Chrome debugger and Android Studio’s in-built debugger to resolve issues; tracking and inspecting HTTP and HTTPS transactions using web debugging proxy tools like Fiddler, Charles Proxy, and Proxyman; performing code commits, reviews on pull requests, cloning or forking from a repository utilizing source code management applications (SourceTree and GitHub); writing unit tests for individual units or components of software; reading, converting and applying styling attributes from XML to CSS or CSS to XML like ‘flex’, ‘transform’, ‘letter spacing’, ‘typography’, ‘scaling’, ‘pixel-ratio’, to match feature design specifications; generating mobile application builds with business features for release and distribution to app users via app store, play store or enterprise store; using tracking tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Trello to document progress on features, attach demonstrations of developed and ready-to-use features to the product owners and follow other Agile Engineering practices like frequent status updates on development progress, attend sprint planning and product stories grooming sessions.
