Position: Software Engineer III

Job Location: 10790 Parkridge Blvd, Reston, VA 20191

Duties: Assists in providing guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline. Provides support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies). Researches and identifies needed solutions. Determines implementation designs. Provides guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems. Identifies short- and long-term solutions; and directs users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain. Manages small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements. Translates requirements into technical solutions. Researches and identifies alternative solutions. Determines needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business. Gathers requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames). Writes and develops code. Conducts unit testing. Communicates status and issues to team members and stakeholders. Collaborates with project team and cross functional teams. Identifies areas of opportunity. Interprets information and identifies a solution. Ensures solution is sustainable across implementation and use. Troubleshoots open issues and bug-fixes; and ensures on-time delivery and hand-offs. Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause). Performs root cause analysis to reduce future issues. Engages support teams to assist in the resolution of issues. Develops solutions. Drives the development of an action plan. Performs actions as designated in the plan. Interprets the results to determine further action; and completes online documentation. Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills required: Must have experience with: hands-on front-end engineering on the web; web application development with React technologies; JavaScript; React and Redux; OOP design principles; third-party libraries and APIs; performing in a team environment; CI/CD and unit testing; deterministic functional testing; and end-to-end automation. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
