Position: Staff Software Engineer
Job Location: 702 S.W. 8th Street, Bentonville, AR 72716
Duties: Leads the work of other small groups of six to ten engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by providing pertinent documents, direction, and examples. Identifies short- and long- term solutions and timeline. Reviews and approves proposed solutions. Implements new architectural patterns; and performs design and code reviews of changes. Troubleshoots business and production issues by reviewing and analyzing information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause). Engages support teams to assist in the resolution of issues. Formulates an action plan. Directs actions as designated in the plan. Interprets the results to determine further action. Performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues; and completes online documentation. Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, Web Operations, project management, business, and user experience teams. Obtains cross-function approvals. Drives proof-of-concept; and implements prototypes to validate ideas. Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices by leading internal technical teams. Partners with cross-functional teams across the business. Develops assessments of key opportunities. Documents project scopes. Develops long-range plans and project timelines. Communicates with and influences decision-makers and executives within the organization; and resolves technology differences across teams through informed discussions. Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects by reviewing project requirements. Translates requirements into technical solutions. Gathers requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames). Writes and develops code. Conducts unit testing. Communicates status and issues to team members and stakeholders. Collaborates with project team and cross functional teams. Troubleshoots open issues and bug-fixes. Enhances design to prevent re-occurrences of defects. Ensures on-time delivery and hand-offs. Interacts with project manager to provide input on project plan; and provides leadership to the project team.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or related experience; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field plus 6 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.
Skills Required: Must have experience with: Perform Requirement gathering using focus groups, brainstorming, interviews and developing high level and low-level designs, and creating technical documentation; Developing REST webservices using Java and Spring framework to deploy on cloud-based platforms such as Kubernetes; Perform estimation for requirements using techniques such as functional points, use cases, Project evaluation and review technique (PERT); Develop business logic using Object Oriented Design & Development using Java, J2EE, Apache Kafka, Apache Camel, JDBC, SOAP Webservices, XML / JSON; Writing SQL queries to store & retrieve data into/from DBMS such as DB2, MS SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, Cassandra); Developing backend service code using Spring framework and spring boot; Developing database integrations using Hibernate ORM Framework; Developing test automation frameworks using Behavior driven development frameworks such as Jbehave, cucumber; Creating and maintaining fully automated CI/CD pipelines for code deployment using Jenkins, Maven; Troubleshooting production issues, identifying the root cause, providing solution, documenting root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences; and Design applications using prototypes and unified modeling diagrams such as Use case diagrams, Sequence Diagrams, and collaboration diagrams.
