We are looking for an experienced Staff Data Engineer to focus on harnessing Infrastructure, Applications, and Business data to build proactive and predictive actionable insights. This role requires working with a wide range of customer and business personas, handling 100's of terabytes scale of data, and dealing with ambiguity in data as well as requirements. This is a real-world opportunity to develop truly impactful data analytics, ML, and AI models with multi-variant high-quality data - to help Infrastructure operators, App owners, and Business planners make data-driven decisions.
About Service Assurance Team:
The Walmart Service Assurance (SA) team is an Edge Observability engineering group. The team is focused on discovery, monitoring, and configuration control for Edge Infrastructure services (network, connectivity, servers etc.) across Walmart Stores, Clubs, and DCs. The instrumented data is used for asset tracking, smart alerting, metrics & trends visualization, automation, and configuration control. Collectively, these capabilities help improve MTTD/MTTR for operational excellence to maintain a consistent, highly available, and stable Edge infrastructure.
What you'll do:
An expert and comfortable working with large, varied data sets.
Be a passionate builder of data insights using leading platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, Grafana, Kibana etc.) and working with distributed PGSQL, Elastic, Data Lake, and NoSQL sources.
Employ skills in working with ML, LLM, and GenAI focused tools and platforms at Walmart.
Successfully handle ambiguity and changing priorities based on customer and business request.
Participate in continuous iterative changes in design, implementation, testing, and operations to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the data insights and actionable engagements.
Present the insights in a wide range of forums including technical and business personas.
Influence a Data Curiosity culture inside and outside the team.
Self-Managed – track day to day activities, drive Sprint deliverables and closure coordinating with customers, team leads, architects, and others to deliver insights on time.
What you'll bring:
Experience working with modern Data Analytics, ML, and AI stack of services.
Experience or knowledge of these systems and frameworks: PowerBI, Tableau, Excel, Kubernetes, React, Javascript, Kafka, NATS, Elastic Search, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Grafana, and Kibana.
Excellent at researching problems statements and defining Sprint stories.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Passionate about building the future of Service Assurance based ML/AI driven operational excellence.
