About Walmart Energy Transformation
The Walmart Energy Transformation team is a newly reimagined energy team that was created to ensure the team has the resources and internal positioning to deliver on Walmart’s energy-related regenerative goals. The team now reports directly to the COO of Walmart US and the Chief Sustainability Officer.
This new organization is responsible for:
Ensuring energy security and reliability through purchasing energy and optimizing for the lowest cost in regulated and wholesale markets. Building value enhancing clean energy businesses around our unique asset base. Meeting our renewable’s goal of 100% renewables by 2030. Increasing the energy efficiency and reducing emissions across our facilities, and Meeting our 2040 Zero Emissions goal, including transitioning our fleet to zero emissions vehicles.
We are a team of seasoned energy veterans dedicated to realizing Walmart’s regenerative commitments and leveraging Walmart’s platform to support the decarbonization of our customers, associates, communities and suppliers. What you’ll bring…
Significant experience originating, underwriting and executing on ITC and PTC tax-oriented investments under various partnership structure, enabling the construction of a unique and diversified portfolio of investments with appropriate risk-adjusted returns;
Deep developer and sponsor relationships that can be leveraged to originate new investments, enhance our power procurement efforts, and meet our annual targets;
Innovative ideas and products that can enable greater access to tax-efficient capital through transferability or co-investment opportunities and partnerships with our suppliers and other industry participants
An understanding of specific tax and operational risks and mitigants associated with tax-oriented investments; ability to consider these in structuring transactions to ensure the interests of Walmart and our stakeholders
Expertise in the legislation, regulations and policy issues related to renewable and sustainable energy and greenhouse gas emissions, enabling an investment program that is nimble and adaptable to policy and market trends
Active engagement and participation with renewable energy industry policy and advocacy groups, supporting policy that enables access to low-cost reliable clean energy for our customers, associates, communities and suppliers.
Relationships with law firms, independent engineers, accountants, and other relevant service providers that support due diligence, execution, and the management and tracking of tax-oriented investments
Technical expertise; an ability to review and comment on cash flow and tax financial modeling of tax-oriented investments

To lead execution of strategy for tax-oriented investments into offsite renewable energy and decarbonization projects, targeted at opportunities that deliver economic value, enable emissions reductions, and deepen customer and/or associate relationships through the expansion of access to low-cost, reliable clean energy.
To execute on long-term global strategy to accelerate Walmart’s progress toward its 100% renewable energy goals in a manner that delivers value to shareholders, customers, and/or associates.
To collaborate with partners within Energy Transformation to originate, execute, and manage long-term, strategic partnerships with renewable energy developers to secure programmatic access to renewable energy globally across Walmart’s geographic footprint.
To originate and execute on value-creating initiatives to facilitate and accelerate decarbonization ambitions of Walmart’s supplier network.
To build, develop, and retain high-performing team of professionals to originate, structure, and execute on opportunities and manage Walmart’s existing portfolio of investments.
To build and maintain strong relationships with the renewable energy and decarbonization project developer community to ensure access to high quality investment opportunities.
To lead internal and external stakeholder engagement with respect to Walmart’s sustainable and renewable energy tax-oriented investment program, including identifying, reviewing, intervening, and participate in relevant state and federal policy and regulatory proceedings; travel to meet with regulatory agencies as needed; and monitor and manage energy-related sustainability affairs in international arenas.
To oversee the regulatory and legislation influencing process by identifying, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting legislation, regulations and policy issues related to renewable and sustainable energy and greenhouse gas emissions; draft initial comments, rebuttals, and briefs; secure and direct outside legal counsel and technical consultants to assist in preparing and presenting Walmart's position; communicate congressional, administrative, and regulatory testimony as necessary; propose solutions to management; and ensure testimony and briefs are prepared and submitted on time after securing approvals.
To drive the execution of multiple investment opportunities by identifying customer and operational needs; develop and communicate business plans and priorities; remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance; provide resources; identify performance standards; measure progress and adjust performance accordingly; develop contingency plans; and demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
