About the Team:

We are responsible for managing the financial master data of Walmart.  Our duties consist of facilitating and maintaining financial master data such as chart of accounts, cost centers, profit centers and other financial structures.  We ensure the that financial data is accurate, consistent, and up to date in all financial systems and reports while adhering to established governance.  We work closely with other departments such as Controllership accounting and technology to ensure that financial data is properly integrated and shared throughout the organization while being compliant with SOX and financial regulations such as GAAP and IFRS.


About the Position:

The Manager – Finance Master Data Chart of Accounts position is a crucial element in the accounting and financial reporting process, providing a comprehensive framework for organizing and categorizing financial information. This position involves the working with requestors to facilitate chart of account requests including new and changes to accounts. The chart of accounts serves as the backbone for financial transactions, enabling the efficient allocation of resources, tracking of expenses, and analysis of financial performance. A well-structured and robust chart of accounts facilitates streamlined external and managerial reporting. The manager position is also responsible for implementing best practices in data management, promoting collaboration technology, and driving continuous improvement in the company's financial processes. Ultimately, the success of this role contributes significantly to the overall financial health and long-term sustainability of the organization.


Responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out day to day operations related to the chart of account business requests.

  • Validate master data chart of account requirements to ensure alignment with governance requirements.

  • Monitor and analyze the chart of accounts to identify data discrepancies and propose corrective actions.

  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

  • Collaboration and Communication –Good communication skills are necessary to clearly convey findings, discuss possible solutions, and ensure that everyone is on the same page.

  • Data Analysis - The ability to use various data analysis tools, such as Excel, SAP, MDG, or data visualization software, to analyze, and interpret data to find insights and solutions.

  • Decision-Making – The ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis, weighing the pros and cons of various solutions, and considering the potential impact on the organization.

  • Time Management – Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently to solve problems.

  • Adaptability – There are always new challenges and changing requirements, so being able to adapt and learn quickly is essential.

You will sweep us off our feet if… 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a minimum of 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles.

  • Strong knowledge of finance master data management principles

  • Experience with SAP, Tableau and Power BI

  • Exposure to data science, AI and ML

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience working in multi-national companies.
