About the Team:
We are responsible for managing the financial master data of Walmart. Our duties consist of facilitating and maintaining financial master data such as chart of accounts, cost centers, profit centers and other financial structures. We ensure the that financial data is accurate, consistent, and up to date in all financial systems and reports while adhering to established governance. We work closely with other departments such as Controllership accounting and technology to ensure that financial data is properly integrated and shared throughout the organization while being compliant with SOX and financial regulations such as GAAP and IFRS.

The Senior Manager – Finance Master Data Chart of Accounts position is a crucial element in the accounting and financial reporting process, providing a comprehensive framework for organizing and categorizing financial information. This position involves the facilitation of creation, maintenance, and governance of the general ledger and its associated accounts, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of financial data globally. The chart of accounts serves as the backbone for financial transactions, enabling the efficient allocation of resources, tracking of expenses, and analysis of financial performance. A well-structured and robust chart of accounts facilitates streamlined external and managerial reporting. The senior manager position is also responsible for implementing best practices in data management, promoting collaboration between accounting, finance, and technology, and driving continuous improvement in the company's financial processes. Ultimately, the success of this role contributes significantly to the overall financial health and long-term sustainability of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Enabling the creation of accounts and updating accounts to accurately reflect the company's financial transactions.
Mapping the chart of accounts to various financial systems to ensure consistency and accuracy across external and managerial reporting.
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Collaborating with accounting and finance to ensure financial data is accurately captured and reported.
Analyzing financial data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Identifying and resolving data quality issues related to chart of accounts.

Critical Thinking - Being able to think critically and evaluate complex data sets to identify patterns, and discrepancies. This includes the ability to assess data quality, identify inconsistencies, and determine the root cause of errors.
Data Analysis - Strong data analysis skills are essential for problem-solving. This includes the ability to use various data analysis tools, such as Excel, SAP, MDG, or data visualization software, to analyze, and interpret data to find insights and solutions.
Decision-Making – The ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis, weighing the pros and cons of various solutions, and considering the potential impact on the organization.
Adaptability – There are always new challenges and changing requirements, so being able to adapt and learn quickly is essential. This includes staying up to date on industry best practices as well as being open to new tools, technologies, and approaches.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with a minimum of 7+ years’ experience in auditing, accounting, and reporting
Strong knowledge of financial master data management principles
Exposure to data science, AI and ML
Strong proficiency in SAP, Tableau and Power BI software
Excellent written and oral communication skills
xperience working in multi-national companies.
