About Walmart Claims Services

The Walmart Claims Services team investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and resolves customer property damage or bodily injury claims on behalf of Walmart and our family of brands. Throughout the claims process, our team engages with Walmart facilities, customers or their attorneys, and different participants both inside and outside of the organization to deliver the best possible claim outcomes while protecting the Walmart brand and maintaining shopper loyalty. 

Walmart Claims Services is hiring a Director of General Liability. Reporting to the Senior Director II of Claims Operations, you’ll serve as an important business leader charged with leading a large team of claims professionals on our journey to become a World Class claims organization. The Director of General Liability will manage the oversight and performance of two to four direct reports and approximately eighty licensed claims professionals responsible for administering a large volume of customer property damage and bodily injury claims on behalf of Walmart and our many brands. What you'll do:

  • Deliver Best Possible Claim Outcomes by identifying and overseeing complex customer claims to guarantee appropriate investigations and evaluations are completed, appropriate resources are deployed, legal partners are engaged, and financial reserves reflect probable claim exposure
  • Engage Strategic Plans of Action to promote the best possible outcome on each claim
  • Set SMART Goals: Establish SMART performance goals that measure progress and workflows that ensure success
  • Meet Important Performance Goals by reviewing metrics and trends, and managing reporting that addresses gaps
  • Use Data Analytics to Develop Business Strategies by using data to meet strategic programs that improve claim outcomes and organizational results
  • Keep Customer Centered by responding swiftly to new claims and resolving customer complaints and executive escalations
  • Align with Main Partners to help mitigate risk and ensure claims procedures always remain customer centered
  • Develop Talent and Leadership to attract and build an accomplished diverse workforce, while promoting a positive environment for team members to grow
  • Manage Succession Planning through Walmart’s robust promotion-from-within culture

What you'll bring:

  • 7+ years' property and casualty claims experience with a major insurance or related organization.
  • 3+ years' of experience managing teams in the claims business.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in finance, business, or related field.
  • You can manage process improvement and the optimization of workflows.
  • You have considerable soft skills in claims resolution and are comfortable facing clients and business partners at all levels.
  • You create efficiencies in the cash management process and find opportunities for integrating new tools and process automation.
  • You are at your best while working in a team environment.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance,
payroll, information systems, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in accounting, finance, payroll, information systems, or related area.
1 year’s supervisory experience.
