Manages accuracy and integrity of tax returns, forms, and audits by assessing tax work papers for state and local operations; providing support to internal and external auditors to ensure accurate financial statement reporting; maintaining and testing processes for Sarbanes-Oxley reporting and compliance; facilitating audit documentation maintenance and procedural developments by sharing audit process information with business partners; communicating audit process irregularities to appropriate management; supports risk mitigation strategies for tax processes; determining system or process enhancements to ensure compliance; collaborating with leadership to develop strategic plans based on assessing risks; and maximizing efficiencies in processes to reduce potential exposure for the company.
Manages medium-complexity sales, use, and excise tax returns, forms, and reporting of operations by gathering financial data from departments and divisions; managing tax notices and recommending resolutions to issues within established timelines to senior management; reviewing and responding to information requisitions; processing financial and tax data using professional tax software; defining processes for collecting and reporting taxes; working with cross-functional teams to improve internal reporting systems; and presenting tax results to senior management.
Supports the execution of tax planning by modeling, updating tax analysis, and working with tax leadership; demonstrating an understanding of tax concepts; discussing moderately complex tax issues with business teams; and keeping informed of current tax developments and effectively applying tax knowledge.
Facilitates trainings and mentoring initiatives by creating and conducting cross-functional team training sessions; assisting in mentoring and developing team members; providing one-on-one training and mentoring to associates ; supporting the function by researching and forecasting tax and audit trends; managing tax-related systems and process changes across the company and subsidiaries to ensure compliance by identifying opportunities for system and tax form enhancements; documenting and completing enhancement requests; and partnering with key stakeholders to design, test, and implement system improvements.
