We are the incubation arm of Walmart. Store No8 was formed in 2017 as part of Walmart’s larger innovation mission to shape the future of commerce. We pursue big ideas and take risks by stepping outside of Walmart’s core business to focus on leapfrog capabilities across conversational commerce, mixed reality, in-store digitization, and more. This team within Store Nº8 is reimagining how families shop and manage their households. They are hard at work designing new products that simplify the shopping experience and integrate naturally into a customer’s routine. 


About the Team 

Walmart Conversational Commerce will create a differentiated customer experience for Walmart customers. Our goal is to deeply enhance the retail relationship and optimize it for the digital world. About the Role 

We are looking for a Strategy and Business Operations Sr. Manager that will report directly to the GM and VP of Conversational Commerce. In this role you will play a critical role in our business with a mix of strategic and operational projects across our team. You will be working across our leadership team to drive forward strategic and operational initiatives; including strategic planning, external partnership, cross WMT initiatives, and additional projects to support the operations of our business. We are looking for a leader who is a self-starter and who thrives in ambiguity with bias for action and excellent communication skills. You will be a key working partner and will work across all teams to take projects from idea to execution.  


What You'll Achieve: 

There are three critical areas of responsibility  

1. Strategic and operational initiatives 

  • Support GM and leadership team with regular strategic projects including build presentations and materials   

  • Support GM in monthly operational reporting of the business including preparing materials and monitoring operating plans 

  • Support CCom business by performing market research, competitive assessments, data driven business case modelling, SWOT analysis, and exploration of monetization 

2. Cross WMT Program support 

  • Support GM in executive reporting including preparing materials and discussion and monitoring operating plans 

  • Drive and support cross WMT relationships  

  • Actively monitor project risks and dependencies, and help remove identified barriers to ensure success 

3. Business development supporting Conversational Commerce including  

  • External 3rd party partnerships and tracking partnerships strategic efforts, i.e. quarterly product meetings with Apple and Google 

  • Support and manage internal cross WMT projects  


What You’ll Need  

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in innovation, business consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy 

  • Thinks critically and systematically about complex business problems and uses strategic frameworks, to prepare strategies, understand trade-offs, and make informed business decisions

  • Experience managing cross functional projects and relationships and working directly with executive leadership

  • You are intellectually curious, high energy, and strong work ethic 

  • Success in an entrepreneurial environment and ability to manage and execute multiple priorities at a fast-paced company while operating independently through ambiguity with minimal supervision 

  • Superb communication of concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels including C-level executives; ability to create and deliver compelling presentations to senior business audiences  

  • Leadership, team management, relationship building, organization, planning and willingness to roll up your sleeves and do what’s necessary 

  • A strong bias to action and sense of curiosity. As a fast-growing business, everyone’s scope is big and we’re always doing something new. 

This is a full-time role that can be held Bentonville or New York City/Hoboken.

Additonal Information

The annual salary range for this position is $119,000 to $221,000 USD.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. 

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

  • Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

  • Stock equity incentives

Minimum Qualifications...

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 4 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
