Development Manager Role

Project/Release Management 

  • Planning our work and scheduling our stories in JIRA
  • Making sure we have well groomed backlogs with shovel ready work (designs/arch/code patterns)
  • Make sure teams are delivering and functioning properly
  • Build a high performance team

  

People Management

  • Everyone should have a career plan
  • You would have 10-12 direct reports (two teams)
  • We need to actively manage performance
  • We should set goals and monitor them in regular one on ones

Quality Management

  • Putting in place the right quality gateways (code review, static analysis)
  • Making sure we are writing unit/integration/regression tests (manual/automated)
  • Working with Walmart Health QA Team to leverage their expertise

Production Support

  • Monitor Critical Production Support Issues
  • Support the L3 tickets
  • Communicate the status of War Room Issues
  • Make sure we are meeting our SLA's and have them defined
  • Make sure we are actively monitoring the application to find issues before our customers

Communication

  • Communicate regularly with your direct reports and L4 4iTB partners
  • Send regular updates on important issues
  • Read and Disseminate Business and Walmart Updates to your team

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field OR 7 years’ experience in software
engineering or related field.
