Drives financial performance for a few categories by developing performance metrics based on category goals; projecting costs and business impact of strategic direction; supports activities related to development and sourcing private label product through all paths by developing and implementing a streamlined process for product development and delivery; ensuring products support category goals and will grow sales according to plan; assisting with the development of category budgets; reviewing sales and making changes as necessary; and communicating updates and changes to senior leadership and executing communication protocols between the category team and offshore sourcing teams.
Oversees processes for a few categories through the entire product life cycle by reviewing product details and ensuring they align with the overall strategy; providing guidance to category teams to ensure category metrics are achieved; ensuring product timelines are met; reviewing cost components related to products to ensure they align with business goals; engaging cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are sustainable across the category; developing contingency plans in case issues arise; working with cross-functional teams to ensure final product (for example, packaging, content) is consistent with product and brand strategy; overseeing the final product assortment to ensure products support the category strategy; and working with the category teams to identify areas to drive improvements.
Participates in the development of the supplier matrix for a few categories by collaborating with category leaders to determine strategic direction; evaluating supplier profiles and assessing their capabilities; partnering with suppliers to ensure products align with strategic goals (for example, pricing, brand); assessing past performance of suppliers to ensure identification and resolution of issues; networking and building relationships with key suppliers at supplier meetings and road shows to gain insights into their business; working with senior leadership to evaluate performance; and providing recommendations regarding supplier selection and use.
Identifies suppliers based on their alignment with product technical specifications by obtaining information on quality standards (for example, good, better, best) for specialized, complex, or high risk categories; partnering with key stakeholders to develop final product specifications based on required aesthetics, branding, and customer expectations; executing Walmart's global leverage strategy to ensure optimal quality and cost across multiple retail markets; identifying potential obstacles; and leveraging existing knowledge and best practices to drive consistency and standardization of sourcing across suppliers.
