Senior Counsel, Technology Transactions & Product

Join the Enterprise Technology & Data Team within Digital Citizenship as a Senior Counsel for Enterprise Technology & Data.  In this role, you will draft, negotiate, and review a variety of commercial legal agreements that support Walmart’s technology and product organizations, including software, cloud, professional services, consulting, technology licensing, data center, and data agreements.  You will also provide primary oversight of Walmart’s Data Ventures product portfolio.  In fulfilling your duties, you will partner cross-functionally with key business, engineering, and legal stakeholders throughout the company.

You’ll make an impact by: 

  • Keeping the ethical use of data and responsible use of technology at the forefront of your legal work, with an eye toward promoting fairness, privacy, and cybersecurity.  At Walmart, the customer is #1!

  • Providing legal advice to the company by providing clients with an informed understanding of the client's legal rights, obligations, and risks to allow the client to make informed decisions.

  • Identifying the need for and overseeing outside legal support for business transactions and projects.

  • Leveraging technology to streamline processes, communication, and workflows.

  • Developing business best practices and procedures that will mitigate corporate risk and accelerate the business.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if… 

  • You have experience providing technology transactional support and product counseling to technology and retail businesses.

  • You have experience providing legal support for data products.

  • You have provided legal support for licensing data products.

  • You have expertise in the fields of intellectual property, data privacy, and information security.

  • You have some knowledge of leading technologies such as AI and Machine Learning. 

  • You have substantial, diverse legal experience (ex. combination of in-house, government, leading law firm, etc.).

  • You empower your business partners while working collaboratively to achieve cross-functional goals.

  • You work proactively and leverage preventative measures in the spirit of protecting stakeholders, customers, and employees.

  • You have a proven track record of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.

  • You have strong communication skills to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders.
