Head of Agency & Adtech Partnerships - Sam's Club Member Access Platform (MAP)

Sam’s Club Membership Access Platform (MAP) is seeking an experienced Head of Agency and Ad Tech Partnerships to help build and sell Sam’s Club MAP’s advertising solutions to current and future agency & ad tech partners benefiting from our proven conversion and brand building omni solutions. You’ll contribute to a high-caliber team in a business that is experiencing rapid and dramatic growth. We are looking for demonstrated performance in a constantly changing, ambiguous environment, and problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

In this role you will build and execute our strategy to partner, educate and improve business performance with the most senior leadership layers of ad tech partners, agency holding companies, and independent agency partners, with a focus on the C-Suite and investment leads. In partnership with the Head of Sales for Sam’s Club MAP, this role will develop our Ad Tech go to market plan and our Agency Partnership Framework, ultimately serving as their trusted advisor for MAP, while driving adoption of MAP’s services & products. This position requires extensive knowledge of the changing AdTech, agency & media landscape, the drive to develop industry-transforming strategies and the ability to build relationships with senior agency and ad tech partners. The ideal candidate has VP investment experience on the agency side and Business Development experience on the ad tech side, a deep knowledge of measurement & analytics used to evaluate performance, extensive knowledge of the ecommerce and marketplace businesses, and a proven ability to influence multiple levels of an organization.


  • Host and drive Partnership engagements with Ad Tech partners and agency holding companies (QBR’s, Top to Top’s, Marketing engagements, etc.)
  • Build Sam’s Club MAP’s annual and quarterly strategic plans for agencies
  • Establish consistent benchmark of excellence across all Agency Development and Ad Tech Partnership leads including the development of holistic Joint Business Plans (JBP’s) and the semi-annual refresh of investment targets
  • Build and elevate relationships at the highest levels within the assigned agencies, C-Suite, Senior Agency Influencers to continuously uncover strategic opportunities to drive MAP revenue on a global, regional, and local level
  • Serve as internal voice of MAP’s agency & ad tech customers to help shape product and marketing roadmaps
  • Contribute to Sam’s Club tentpole senior-level engagements and activations (i.e. CES, NRF, AdWeek) with assigned agencies & ad tech partners
  • Collaborate with a number of internal specialists (i.e., product, engineering, data, platform, measurement, media, analytics) as needed to meet strategic partnership requirements and to continuously identify relevant opportunities
  • Develop and negotiate T&C’s at an agency holding company level
  • Be a trusted thought leader to both external stakeholders and investment teams throughout the country by leading consistent agency education initiatives and events
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in the industry, act as an ambassador and spokesperson for MAP in the agency and ad tech community
  • Develop network of strong relationships with key search, marketplace, ad tech and media industry partners
  • Identify, grow and retain the best and brightest talent, while fostering an open, diverse and inclusive culture

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required, MBA a plus
  • 5+ years agency and ad tech experience with a focus on retail media, lower-funnel conversion strategies, data, and analytics
  • Driven and solution-oriented and can overcome obstacles to drive projects through completion
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is action oriented
  • Flexibility to effectively deal with changes in priorities or ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about a particular industry and/or product set
  • Comfortable with presenting to clients and agencies—in both small or large groups
  • Familiarity with agency holding companies and strong relationships across the agency landscape
  • Ability to partner within cross-functional teams
  • Ability to consult and bring ideas to the table
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to build internal networks to accomplish goals through collaboration with resources across teams
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • eCommerce experience with a deep understanding of the search industry
  • Demonstrated marketing automation and programmatic advertising expertise
  • High level of competency in oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in building relationships with senior agency decision makers
  • Managing & influencing large, cross-functional teams
