What you'll do...

Oversees the creation, review, and refinement of the scope of the organization's Patient Safety Program on an annual basis.

Coordinates the activities of the Clinical Quality Committee for all practice types (for example, medical, dental, optical).

Serves as a liaison between the CQO, the CMO, and Clinical Quality Committees.

Oversees the management and use of medical error information. Reviews internal error reports and utilizes information from the Patient Safety Organization.

Investigates patient safety issues within a facility. Participates in root cause analysis of internal error reports.

Recommends and facilitates change within the organization to improve patient safety based on identified risks.

Collaborates on the development of policies and procedures impacting organizational patient safety.

Develops a mechanism for internal communication of patient safety-related information.

Designs and collaborates on the implementation of educational presentations that facilitate the understanding and implementation of organizational patient safety standards.

Serves as a resource for clinical departments on issues of patient safety.

Supports and encourages error reporting throughout the organization.

Supports the development of a recognition program aimed at improving patient safety.

Reports to the CQO/CMO/CCO on known medical and health care errors, identified near misses, and unsafe conditions within a facility, as well as actions taken, either proactively, or in response to reported events. Addresses barriers to the implementation of patient safety programs.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness.

Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy.

Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Minimum Qualifications...

Advanced degree in a health care-related field (for example, master of science in nursing, doctor of nursing practice degree, clinical nurse specialist)
5 years’ experience in quality improvement models/programs.
Prior experience in risk management or patient safety operations.
As permitted by applicable law, provide evidence of full vaccination as defined by CDC guidelines OR secure approval of medical or religious accommodation for the vaccination mandate.
