Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Provide strategic advice and legal counsel to select business segments related to Walmart’s patent portfolio; serve as a point of contact for patent and open source matters, bringing in other legal and business stakeholders as needed; implement legal strategy to manage the entire patent lifecycle.

You’ll make an impact by…  

• Working effectively with lead counsel and members of the intellectual property (IP) team to act as a point of contact for all patent and open-source related matters
• Helping to manage Walmart’s global patent portfolio, including identifying inventions, reviewing invention disclosures, and overseeing patent preparation and prosecution for certain Walmart business segments
• Connecting with business and tech personnel to develop an understanding of product roadmaps, patent and open source priorities, and to ensure appropriate IP coverage of key initiatives
• Working with and supervising outside counsel, patent professionals, and patent paralegals to obtain strategic patents
• Conducting patent landscape, freedom to operate, and patentability searches
• Performing outreach and conducting patent and IP trainings for Walmart personnel

• You have experience working with engineers and R&D personnel
• You have demonstrated ability in executing global filing strategies
• You have familiarity with IP litigation and IP provisions in tech contracts and agreements
• You are willing to challenge the status quo
• You have demonstrated bias towards action and innovation
