What you'll do at

Performs forecasting updates (for example, sales, profit, profit and loss, balance sheet) for supported Sam's Club business areas by assessing current performance; and researching variations to budget to ensure accurate forecasting and profit records. Coordinates financial planning with other Company areas by supporting departmental relationships with cross-functional leadership; assisting in the preparation of forecasts and projections; and providing input to senior Management to help in the development of strategies to optimize business operations and minimize expenses. Monitors accounting team closing processes by reviewing the general ledger to verify accuracy of accounting entries; and monitoring information in monthly closings. Manages budget and plan preparation by developing financial forecasts and budgets; identifying financial and accounting implications of business activities; assessing budget and plan reasonability; providing value-added financial analyses and recommendations; and preparing reports for senior management. Supports internal controls by complying with requirements (for example, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)); managing control testing efforts; proposing changes or improvements to controls; and identifying and reporting gaps or exceptions in internal controls. Prepares financial analyses to support business decision making and performance assessment by evaluating business initiative plans and results; researching financial controls, accounting, and financial regulatory implications for business initiatives; and developing financial models. Assists Training and Development Department to develop training by providing expertise on financial and accounting concepts relevant to the curriculum.
