What you'll do

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer professional in our Sunnyvale, CA office.

Duties: Design, write and build tools to improve the reliability, latency, availability and scalability of Walmart e-commerce products. Augment existing instrumentation to build a cohesive picture of the characteristics of our systems with special attention to points of failure. Develop a deep understanding of the various services and applications that come together to deliver Walmart e-commerce products and Analyze requirements, design and implement infrastructure solutions for e-Commerce platform. Design new tools to monitor and smart alerts that help discover failures/issues in a timely fashion and work with engineers to identify root cause and fix issues. Influence, design and create new architectures, standards and methods for large-scale enterprise systems. Plan scalability/capacity architecture to support business growth and participate in Failure Point Analysis. Responsible for root-cause analysis complex problems involving multiple parties, networks, hardware and software that relate to scaling and performance. Interact with application teams, architects, and PMs to design and implement new functionality. Secure the system from issues, be they real, perceived or notional and focus on collecting and inferring metrics. Provide support for Various OS related issues on Solaris, Linux, and VMware. Work on Openstack Cloud, large scale storage solutions and OneOps.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience implementing solutions for e-commerce platforms.

Skills required: Cloud Computing experience with demonstrated understanding of Azure, AWS and Openstack Components such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift. DevOps experience with Linux/Unix Systems, Linux Internals, kernel tunings to optimize performance of Linux System and Infrastructure Automation experience using Chef, Puppet and Ansible. Programming experience in at least one of the following languages: Java, Go, Python, or Shell. Experience building Monitoring as Service Platform, using Nagios, Sensu, Graphite/Carbon, Collectd and APM. Networking experience and demonstrated understanding of network concepts, such as different protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP), MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing, TCP/IP Stack and Networking devices such as switches, routers. Demonstrated understanding of Netscalers and F5 LoadBalancers. Demonstrated knowledge of OneOps Cloud Platform Service Layer. Experience with Lifecycle management of Cloud Environments in OneOps, Platform and OneOps Infrastructure Architecture. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
