What you'll do

Lab Quality Assurance Shift Manager - Dairy

This position is responsible for the operation of a department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job related
responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
Essential Functions
An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Ensures standards for food safety and quality testing (for example, Food Safety, Quality Control Plans, Key Performance Indicators) by maintaining
documentation accuracy and testing control plans; monitoring laboratory training and testing to ensure all personnel are capable and proficient in
laboratory methods and protocols; verifying processes and products are in compliance with federal state and company specifications; and maintaining
l aboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and precision.
Leads Continuous Improvement efforts by working with management (for example, FSQA manager) to streamline operations; maintaining department
operation efficiency; anticipating and resolving issues before they impact compliance, product quality and availability; and distributing work
assignments to ensure on time completion and release of raw materials, bulk, and third party products.
Manages the business plan for area of responsibility by communicating goals and managing staffing and scheduling; assigning duties and
coordinating workload; establishing on-going training assistance (for example, quality and food safety); supporting HACCP program; troubleshooting
quality issues and concerns; assisting with compliance regulations; and leading special project efforts.
Manages laboratory inventory levels to ensure laboratory functions properly by ensuring protocols are followed for maintaining tools, equipment and
containers; monitoring the rotation and usage of consumables to ensure timely usage; and preparing purchase requisitions to provide the laboratory
with the proper stock levels of consumables.
Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders;
supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for
and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting
continuous learning.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and
ensuring diversity awareness.
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by
implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing
business processes and practices.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
2 year's supervising experience within a related environment (for example, dairy plant, food processing, manufacturing).
2 years’ clerical experience (for example, filing, data entry) using computer applications (for example, email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets,
PowerPoint, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or related field.
3 years’ laboratory experience in a dairy plant, food processing or manufacturing laboratory (for example, micro lab, plating samples).
3 years’ experience supervising or leading a technical team.
2 year’s experience in chemical and microbiological methods using instrumentation (for example, HACCP program, HPLC, GC, ICP, ELISA, micro
plate readers).
2 year’s experience in GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, SSOPs, CIP, SQF, FSMA, Appendix N Antibiotic Testing, DMC – Direct
Microscopic Count, DMSC – Direct Microscopic Somatic Count, Sediment Testing, Freezing Point (Cryoscope).
