What you'll do

We are seeking a Software Engineer III professional in our Sunnyvale, CA office.

Duties: Work with business and project managers to define projects and design new features. Project-manage technical aspects of complex projects. Ensure high-quality technical deliverables from their team. Deliver high-quality code that meets design specifications. Prepare documents code. Write unit tests and functional tests. Work with testing group to develop effective test cases. Provide on-call support. Responsible for debugging and fixing application defects as they are reported, whether in the development phase or in production. Provide off-hours emergency production support via an established on-call schedule. Demonstrate leadership while working in cross-functional teams consisting of project managers, DBA’s, Operations engineers, and Java engineers from other application development teams. Schedule assigned engineering resources for optimal utilization and quickest delivery. Mentor other engineers in software best practices, and help them to become senior engineers. Serve as proxy for the team manager in meetings, as needed. Keep manager informed of project status, needs, changes to plan. Make recommendations to the manager and team regarding development options, alternate technologies. Construct challenging development plans with stretch tasks and goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (any), Computer Science or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills required: Must have software design skills in Object Oriented Programming and Java and troubleshooting and performance tuning skills. Knowledge of Eclipse and Swing. Must have knowledge in J2EE technologies including Web Services, Servlets, JSP, Struts, JSTL, RMI, EJB, JNDI, JDBC, JMX, and Hibernate. Must have knowledge of Junit. Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PL/SQL or Connection pooling. Knowledge of Linux and Solaris OS, Shell Scripting, and Perl. Knowledge with the required skills may be gained through academic coursework, research or professional experience. Employer will accept any amount of knowledge/experience with the required skills.
