Position: Staff Systems Engineer

Location: 2101 SE Simple Savings Drive, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Leads complex engineering projects to address business initiatives. Consults with business partners and designs solutions based on business requirements. Helps develop and implement new processes and technologies for their area. Drives the execution of the overall strategy for their assigned team and is responsible for mentoring others and promoting and supporting company expectations. Leads large, complex projects for related systems engineering solutions. Consults with business partners regarding project design and expected functionality for long-range objectives. Researches industry innovations and best practices and determines opportunities for new innovative solutions. Designs systems engineering solutions based on long-range requirements. Leads and oversees project teams in the development of solution functionality. Drives systems solutions to support long-term infrastructure solutions. Manages the build of the core infrastructure across the enterprise. Presents designs to cross-functional leadership. Drives system design processes and solution development. Collaborates with internal teams (for example, Network Operations Center (NOC), Engineering partners) on identified issues and their impact to system functionality. Analyzes escalated or reoccurring issues to determine the root cause. Develops and drives solutions to ensure short- and long-term functionality. Utilizes new technologies and innovations to drive resolution. Collaborates with vendors on innovative solutions. Consults with partner teams on systems engineering questions. Drives the development and implementation of systems engineering improvements. Develops and communicates technical strategy and priorities. Aligns short- and long-term solutions with business partners to ensure efficiencies across the organization. Develops technology roadmaps and ensures they are aligned to departmental and company strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years of systems engineering or related experience; OR Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 7 years of systems engineering or related experience; OR Ph.D. or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 2 years of systems engineering or related experience.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC); Object Oriented Design with programming languages such as Java or C++; Scripting using Bash, Python, or Perl; Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment using tools like Jenkins, Git; Java Application Servers such as Tomcat or Jetty; Middleware Messaging using ActiveMQ or RabbitMQ; TCP/IP Networking; Cloud Technology like OpenStack, Azure, AWS, or GCP; and Linux/Unix Operating System. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
