We are transforming the way that we work to become the world’s leading data-driven retailer, and are seeking an experienced business leader to drive: the business impact of data in our existing functions and operations; the creation of new data-driven business models; and best-practice usage of data science across the enterprise. This initiative covers all areas of Walmart’s business across stores, e-commerce, supply, merchandising and customer interactions, and this role is a central element in Walmart’s overall data strategy mission.

As part of the newly created Data Team, this role will be a key enabler of our journey to be the world’s leading data-driven retailer. As part of this transformation, we are seeking a leader to help manage and execute on the Data Asset development and Enablement component of this strategy. Specially, this person will be responsible for activities that range optimizing our end-end data supply chain, to identifying and operationalizing the key business and operational metrics to bring full transparency to the team efforts and value. Additionally, this person will be responsible for manage and synchronizing the portfolio of activities in the Data Strategy/Enablement team; including Data Engineering, Data Governance, Data Partnerships, and Data Compliance.

The Data Program Development leader will report to the VP, Data Strategy and Enablement, and will collaborate across key functional domains and business lines.

Key responsibilities:
- Driving new value through identifying areas to optimize, and/or shift efforts to maximize business value through revenue, cost savings, or Customer trust.
- Own the creation and implementing the processes to synchronize and report on the Data Supply chain activities across broader our broader team (Data Engineering, Product, Governance, Partnerships, etc.).
- Partner with the Data and Analytics technology teams to ensure that the tools are fit-for-purpose and support an agile, scalable organization.
- Leading the development and communications to senior leaders across the business that reflect contemporary and business focused data enablement activities.
- Partner with business in the processes available to lead or support Data audits, inventory evaluation, and centralization of assets.
- Key lead for team on working with CDO’s communications lead to develop and roll-out educational programs, webinars, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

- 15+ years’ experience in a data-driven business. Experience in start-ups though Fortune 50 a significant plus.
- Working knowledge and experience in Data Management, Data Development (technical, and value-added processes), Partnerships, and executing on a Data transformation.
- Experience in brining data products to market a plus.
- MBA or commensurate Technical Master’s Degree a plus.
- Entrepreneurial attitude with focus on goals while exhibiting personal integrity and a focus on the customer.
- Experience leading diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong relationship building skills, coupled with high business acumen.
- Broad understand of data platforms, infrastructure, and tools (ex: streaming data tools, Data Management tools) and how to ensure we have end-end visibility and continuity in the development to include key requirements of the ecosystem.
- Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools is highly desired.
- Demonstrate a passion for delivering insights through data and analytics, with a strong focus on measurable outcomes.
- Detail oriented leader with ability to work, develop, and think at strategic level. Additionally, the appetite to work with the teams to dig into data, processes, issues, to identify root-cause issues and remedies is a very desirable strength.
- Track record of attracting, hiring, and developing agile, goal-oriented teams.
